      Specialist, Network Planning

      How You Will Contribute:

      Ciena is in search of an outstanding individual to join its Advanced Network Planning group and the broader Navigator Network Control Suite PLM organization.

      The ideal candidate is a network specialist with a unique blend of experience and interest in high-level architecture, network analysis, algorithm development and programming. Through in-depth analysis of customer networks, research into network optimization strategies and the development of design tools, you will help shape the network evolution plans of our customers and contribute to Ciena’s planning tool capabilities.

      • You will work with members of Ciena’s global sales force on the design, optimization, and analysis of customer IP and Optical network architectures.
      • You will develop algorithms and tools in Python to automate and optimize specific network planning tasks such as capacity planning, route and spectrum assignment, failure simulations, and more
      • You will work with PLM and product development teams to bring new planning capabilities to market.

      The Must Haves:

      • Masters or Ph.D. degree in Engineering or related field coupled with proven industry experience.
      • Proficiency in python programming
      • Experience with the use of AI tools as aids to software code development
      • Some experience in network analysis, and optimization
      • Working knowledge of optical transport and data networking technologies (DWDM, OTN, Carrier Ethernet, and IP/MPLS).
      • Good communication skills

      The annual pay range for this position is $82,400 - $131,600 CAD.

      Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.       Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
