What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations
- Initiate, document, and communicate the plan of care while ensuring complete patient screening and preparation
- Conduct daily patient rounds to monitor progress and provide care
- Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests
- Collaborate with attending physicians, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure quality patient care
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited program
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) in New York State
- Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants
- Current BLS certification
- For Nurse Practitioner candidates: Master's Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program, National Board Certification, and current licenses in New York State
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in a clinical setting as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- Knowledge of collaborative practice agreements and protocols
- Additional certifications in relevant specialties
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
