What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review clinical documentation to extract data and apply ICDO-O codes for cancer and reportable benign tumors
- Code, stage, and enter data into the registry database using relevant guidelines and standards
- Ensure compliance with state and federal mandates for reporting diagnosed and treated malignancies
- Conduct data quality control activities and prepare reports for annual reporting and special studies
- Maintain confidentiality of all encountered information and report any breaches to management
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum degree required: Associate's degree
- Current certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) or Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a tumor registry as an ODS (CTR)
- Experience working for a Commission on Cancer (COC) accredited hospital
- Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week with flexible hours available
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with the National Cancer Institute (NCI)
- Strong conceptual, quantitative, and qualitative analytical skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
