What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Extrapolate detailed cancer data from medical records and complete quality-focused case abstracts with 98% accuracy
- Meet activity-based productivity benchmarks in accordance with regulatory and department requirements
- Identify and accession reportable cancer and benign CNS tumors diagnosed within the health system
- Review completed cases annually to assess subsequent cancer treatment provided by the organization
- Participate in quality assurance reviews of tumor registry work and assigned abstracts
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum educational requirement: Associate's degree or 60 hours of college-level coursework in a health-related field
- ODS certification to be obtained within 3 years of hire
- Minimum 1 year of experience in cancer registry or a remote position preferred
- Strong knowledge of cancer coding and classification systems, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with Standards for Oncology Registry Entry (STORE), ICD-O, SEER, and AJCC Staging Principles
- Familiarity with quality assurance processes in cancer registry work
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
