      Position Overview

      This role is responsible for managing an exclusive sales territory, developing new business opportunities, and strengthening relationships with customers and principal partners. The Outside Sales Engineer for Jasper Mechanical will represent a diverse portfolio of industrial equipment in the construction, mining, paper, aggregate, and municipal markets.

      The headquarters of Jasper Engineering is located in Hibbing, MN; however, this is a remote position within the assigned territory of the Michigan Upper Peninsula. The ideal candidate resides in this territory to effectively support customers and manage the territory.

      Key Responsibilities

      Sales & Business Development
      • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
      • Conduct in-person sales calls, presentations, and product demonstrations.
      • Develop and maintain strong customer and principal relationships to drive loyalty and repeat business.
      • Execute strategic sales plans to grow market share and meet or exceed sales targets.
      • Provide pre- and post-sales technical support.

      Territory & Account Management
      • Manage an assigned territory with regular travel to client sites.
      • Develop and maintain a pipeline of active opportunities using CRM tools.
      • Plan and execute weekly schedules for prospecting, follow-ups, and account growth.

      Branch Operations & Leadership
      • Oversee day-to-day branch operations, including shop management and workflow.
      • Assign and prioritize jobs, monitor warehouse stock levels, manage procurement, and track order projections.
      • Coordinate with service teams, warehouse staff, and outside vendors to ensure efficient operations.

      Engineering & Technical Support
      • Design pumping, lubrication, and other mechanical systems to improve maintenance, operation, and reliability.
      • Plan and oversee equipment installations.
      • Serve as a hands-on resource for troubleshooting equipment and process issues.

      Market & Product Knowledge
      • Maintain in-depth knowledge of product lines, applications, pricing, and promotions.
      • Provide market feedback to improve product offerings and sales strategies.
      • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.

      Reporting & Administration
      • Document all sales, operational, and engineering activities in CRM or ERP systems.
      • Prepare regular reports and territory updates for management.
      • Attend sales meetings, product training, and professional development sessions.
      • Ensure compliance with company policies and maintain professionalism.

      Ongoing Development
      • Take initiative for continuous learning through training, mentorship, and feedback.
      • Stay current on new technologies and applications relevant to assigned industries.


      Requirements

      Qualifications:

      Education & Experience
      • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
      • 3-5+ years of experience in industrial equipment sales, engineering, or branch operations.
      • Experience in construction, mining, paper, aggregate, or municipal industries a plus.
      • Proven track record in B2B sales and technical problem-solving.

      Skills & Competencies
      • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to design, plan, and troubleshoot mechanical systems (pumping, lubrication, and related equipment).
      • Solid knowledge of industrial equipment, processes, and applications.
      • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
      • Project and operational management experience, including shop oversight, inventory management, and procurement.
      • Proficiency with CRM and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and travel frequently within the territory.

      Other Requirements
      • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in warehouse or shop environments, and adhere to safety protocols.
      • Self-motivated, organized, and committed to continuous learning and professional development.


      Salary Description

      $65k-$75k base + commission, experience dependent
