What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Compose initial drafts of legal documents, notices, and pleadings
- Manage organization and accessibility of complex litigation documents
- Draft declarations and respond to discovery requests
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including managing witnesses and courtroom aids
- Conduct legal research to support case strategies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of four years of experience through paralegal certification, a two-year paralegal degree, or paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney
- Alternatively, one year of experience as a Paralegal 1 in Washington State Service
- Experience in preparing legal pleadings and correspondence
- Proficiency in managing case documents, files, and exhibits
- Strong research skills and attention to detail for legal citations and references
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous experience in a legal setting, specifically in civil rights or corrections law
- Familiarity with legal databases and document management systems
- Engagement in community service or diversity initiatives
- Additional certifications related to paralegal studies or legal research
- Experience with trial preparation and courtroom procedures
