What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Partner with Assistant Attorneys General to initiate and manage formal discovery requests and responses
- Analyze case facts, identify legal issues, and interview potential witnesses
- Independently create comprehensive reports detailing evidence and its relevance
- Prepare for and participate in mediation and trial, managing witnesses and evidence
- Draft legal documents, conduct research, and coordinate with experts
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Combination of four years of experience through paralegal certification, a two-year paralegal degree, or paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney
- One year of experience as a Paralegal 1 in Washington State Service
- Experience in civil litigation and managing discovery, including redacting confidential information
- Strong skills in preparing legal pleadings and managing case documents
- Proficiency in legal research and verifying legal citations
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with electronic discovery databases and tools
- Familiarity with Washington State legal procedures and regulations
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience in a government or public service legal setting
