What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide expert paralegal support to attorneys in child welfare cases
- Draft legal documents including petitions to terminate parental rights and guardianship petitions
- Negotiate settlements and conduct trial preparation
- Supervise and train three paralegals within the office
- Collaborate with management to enhance office processes and procedures
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Combination of six years of experience through paralegal certification or a two-year paralegal degree
- Two years' experience as a Paralegal 2 in Washington State Service
- Proven experience in preparing legal pleadings and managing case documents
- Supervisory experience and knowledge of Court Rules
- Familiarity with DCYF matters and termination of parental rights
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of Law Manager and/or FileVine software
- Experience in a legal assistant role supporting an attorney
- Understanding of juvenile court procedures and practices
- Community involvement or engagement with diverse populations
- Additional certifications related to paralegal studies
