What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Prepare, coordinate, and manage SEC filings for variable life insurance and variable annuity products
- Coordinate EDGAR filings, including formatting, tagging, proofing, and submission
- Maintain and update disclosure documents to reflect regulatory changes and product updates
- Assist in responding to comments and regulatory inquiries from SEC, FINRA, IRS, and DOL
- Conduct complex legal and legislative research, drafting legal memoranda and documents
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Paralegal degree, certification, or equivalent with a minimum of 6+ years related legal and/or legislative/regulatory experience
- At least 3+ years prior experience in-house at an insurance company or in an asset management corporate position
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple filings and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and document management systems (Workiva, Arc Pro)
- General working knowledge of the Securities Act of 1933 and Investment Company Act of 1940
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 8+ years related legal and/or legislative/regulatory experience highly preferred
- Broad expertise in more than one area of law
- Prior experience with paralegal support relating to broker-dealer matters and fixed annuities
- Familiarity with state insurance regulatory filings coordination
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
