      Parent Professional/Family Partner Rate: $18.00-$20.00/hour

      Location: 300 Battles Street, Brockton Hours: 30 hours/week

      Supervised By: FIRST Program Director/Designee


      General Statement of Duties: The Parent Professional provides support and advocacy to parents and/or caregivers. The Parent Professional ensures each family’s voice is heard and supports parents/caregivers in communicating with providers and navigating the mental health system of care.


      Responsibilities:

      1. Meet and engage Parent/Caregiver in a timely, informative, and family-friendly manner.

      2. Provide education and guidance to Parent/Caregiver so they can better understand the diagnosis, needs, and strategies to best support their youth.

      3. Coach Parent/Caregiver on effective ways to successfully navigate systems of care, identify adequate treatments for their youth, and maintain a voice in delivery of services.

      4. Explore and help the Parent’s/Caregiver’s access a community network of services and support.

      5. Support Parent/Caregiver in learning/enhancing conflict resolution, problem-solving, and advocacy skills.

      6. Empower Parent/Caregiver to articulate their youth’s strengths, needs, vision, and goals for treatment.

      7. Collaborate with Parent/Caregiver in developing and implementing measurable and creative goals, in partnership with the youth and clinician.

      8. Engage the Parent/Caregiver in activities, in the home and community, that are designed to accomplish the goals on their individualized treatment plan.

      9. Monitor and collaboratively determine transition, using the self-assessment data to in collaboration with the treatment team, wrap team, and DMH.

      10. Explore benefits and avenues of selfcare with Parents/Caregivers and connect them to available supports.

      11. Celebrate each incremental success towards goals with the youth and Parent/Caregiver.

      12. Participate in team meetings and facilitate and/or co-facilitate meetings.

      13. Accompany and support Parent/Caregivers at community meetings (e.g. IEP meetings, hospital discharge, treatment team, support groups, etc.).

      14. Advocate for Parent/Caregiver voice and choice through ongoing treatment, transition planning, and discharge.

      15. Ensure the identified strengths, vision, needs, culture, and goals of family are considered during service delivery and at meetings.

      16. Provide a minimum of weekly face-to-face home visits with Parent/Caregiver, at an agreed upon day and time.

      17. Provide transportation to families, as needed, in support of their identified goals.

      18. Maintain professional boundaries and share lived parenting experiences with purpose and intent to encourage hope and inspiration.

      19. Attend individual supervision, Staff meeting, and other BAMSI/DMH trainings as scheduled and/or required.

      20. Complete weekly progress notes and other documentation in a timely and professional manner.

      21. Perform duties consistent with DMH and BAMSI policies and procedures.

      22. Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards

      23. Perform other related work duties as needed or assigned by supervisor and/or designee.


      Qualifications:

      · Lived experience as a Parent/Caregiver of a youth with significant social, emotional, behavioral health, medical or trauma related needs.

      · Possess experience (2-5 years) navigating child and family-serving systems preferred.

      · Demonstrate a strengths-based and outcome-based perspective.

      · Ability to respond to families under stress and in crisis.

      · Understanding and ability to work with diverse families.

      · Experience working with various state systems, including DMH, DCF, DDS, and DYS.

      · Have a growth mindset and able to work in a team and be a creative problem solver.

      · Good organizational skills, computer skills, and oral and written communication skills.

      · Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate special events and meetings.

      · Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license and willing to travel as requested.
