We anticipate filling this position between May 1, 2024 to July 24, 2024 depending on the needs of the assigned department.
Interns must be ready to begin employment by September 2, 2024, but some may begin earlier.
This is not a fully remote opportunity, in-office hours are to be expected.
Interns are also expected to participate in both in-office work assignments as well as a member of the in-person training cohort.
Assisting in the usage of QSend and Cartegraph (Expediting Open Ticket times);
Performing general data gathering through Public Interaction (Community Service Data);
Performing Divisional Standard Monitoring to ensure county-wide equity;
Monitoring divisional workflow to ensure quality and timely work (PNR Quality Control); and
Coordinating and reporting volunteer program data/information.
No significant professional-level work experience (less than one year) in the internship field; and
Applicants who are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program related to the internship must not have significant professional-level work experience in the internship area and must be available to work during designated hours.
G.P.A. of 3.0 or above is preferred and applicants may be asked to provide certified official transcripts.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals for exciting one-year Internships in a variety of positions across the County. These positions offer a career opportunity to qualified individuals with little or no previous professional work experience to help them prepare for a career in a variety of fields of work. This Internship will provide recent college graduates and currently enrolled graduate students with in-depth, hands-on learning opportunities in areas critical to supporting local government initiatives while participating in a developmental and training cohort with peers.
Internship
Over the course of a year, Interns work under the mentorship and supervision of senior staff members to gain valuable on-the-job training and real-world work experience. They support the County's efforts to consistently work toward greater efficiency and effectiveness by offering improved processes and fresh ideas, and by leveraging smart technologies, while becoming familiar with the public-sector work environment as a viable and fulfilling career path.

Department of Parks & Recreation
The Division of Parks and Natural Resources (PNR) Administrative Unit currently consists of four permanent FTEs and one Cohort Intern. This position will report directly to the Division Chief of Parks and Natural Resources. The position would be responsible for administrative, quality control, and division standard practices throughout PNR. Administrative responsibilities include performance data collection, analysis and presentation for reports and special projects, administrative records and office management, support emergency weather events, coordinate customer service complaints and staff assignments generated by QScend in Cartegraph, and general division-wide communications and event/meeting scheduling.
Under the direct supervision of a mentor, responsibilities include:

Minimum:
Recent, 2023 and/or 2024 college graduates earning either a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree* in the area of consideration prior to the start date of the internship must have:
*Any time lapse between earning degrees may not include significant professional-level work experience.
Degree Requirements: Sports Management, Park and Recreation, Administration, Management or related discipline. Applications will be accepted from candidates graduating with an undergraduate degree no later than August, 2024 and from candidates currently pursuing a Master's Degree in their field as described above.

Background Check: A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. Work Hours: This is a full-time position (40 hrs/week) M-F 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with flex and telework times as a possibility with division chief approval. A reliable means of transportation to and from DPR locations is highly encouraged. This is not a fully remote opportunity.
Employees will be expected to attend in-person classroom trainings as scheduled.
