      The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of PART-TIME PROGRAM ASSISTANT ASSIGNED TO HUMAN RESOURCES - BACKGROUNDS UNIT .

      This position is responsible for administrative work involving administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources Division, Backgrounds section.

      ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES: The duties listed below are in addition to the duties assigned under the associated job description. The omission of specific work statements does not necessarily exclude them from being performed by the position and is for illustrative purposes only.

      • Assists the Backgrounds section with preparing criminal background investigations and assimilating information from multiple sources into a comprehensive package
      • Assembles, compiles, interprets and presents data, statistical information and reports
      • Collects, compiles and distributes information from CAFE, DAVID, NCIC/FCIC, Finder, Equifax, TLO, TCATS and other local databases as required
      • Have knowledge of Sworn/Certified/Civilian positions within the Seminole County Sheriff's Office to include qualifications and basic knowledge about each position in order to assist the Backgrounds section
      • Assists with pre-employment/qualifying testing as needed
      • Answers incoming calls and responds to general inquiries
      • Furnishes personnel, applicants and general public with related information
      • Comply with all federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies that govern Human Resources
      • Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary in the efficient and effective performance of the position functions

      • High School Diploma or GED
      • One (1) year responsible work experience
      • Consideration may be given to equivalent combination of related training, education and experience
      • Ability to type at least 30 correct wpm - a typing test will be given as part of the pre-screening process
      • Internal applicants must have completed the Seminole County Sheriff's Office one (1) year probationary period
      • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
      Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee’s duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours and required training activities.

      Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, arithmetic, modern office practices and procedures, including record-keeping methods; of all SCSO computer programs such as Café, SCSONet, MICAD, TUSCON and ability to become FCIC/NCIC certified if needed for assignment.

      Ability to maintain confidential information; to work independently and with little supervision on a variety of complex issues; to research, organize, and prepare accurate reports, summaries, and/or tabulations; to meet with and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, agencies, offices, and the general public.

      WORKING CONDITIONS

      The work environment for this position is in an office atmosphere. Work is generally performed during normal business hours although the incumbent may be required to work any schedule that fulfills the needs of the position.

      Mobility -Mostly sedentary work but some standing and walking; constant use of a computer

      Visual -Constant overall vision; constant eye-hand coordination; frequent reading/close-up work

      Dexterity -Frequent repetitive motion and reaching

      Emotional/Psychological - Frequent public contact; decision-making and concentration

      Special Requirements - Ability to behave respectably and with utmost integrity even when off duty. May be required to respond for any critical incident, manmade or natural. Some assignments may require working weekends and nights.
