What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Coordinate the State Pavement Office research program and manage statewide experimental pavement procedures
- Analyze and write reports on pavement performance, benefits, and life cycle costs
- Direct and perform nonstandard data collection and testing for pavement-related research
- Maintain research databases and oversee the Pavement Type Selection process
- Provide expert technical assistance on pavement design to internal and external customers
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Professional Engineer license in Washington State or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire
- Extensive experience in pavement engineering principles, including design, preservation, rehabilitation, and construction practices
- Proven competence in coordinating pavement testing and data collection activities
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects on time and within budget
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in advanced civil engineering analysis and research
- Proficiency in producing clear technical documentation and reports
- Knowledge of WSDOT design standards and construction practices
- Experience using engineering and cost-analysis software for pavement design and analysis
- Previous experience in a transportation or public-sector engineering environment
