      FLEX College Prep is seeking a hands-on payroll and people operations candidate for a part-time role supporting our growing organization. The right person will own the payroll process from start to finish, maintain accurate employee records, support onboarding and employee administration, and assist with light accounting and operational tasks. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working remotely, and able to follow a payroll calendar without needing constant supervision.

      This is a TEMP - to - HIRE (3-month contract to FTE opportunity) working primarily remote with an occasional in-person meeting or training in Tustin, CA. Orange County / Southern California candidates preferred. Ideally, this is a 25+ hour per week position. The rate of pay is between $37 - $42 per hour depending on experience.

      Role Description

      This part-time hybrid role, based in Tustin, CA, allows for a blend of in-office and remote work. As a Payroll, Accounting, and HR Generalist, you will play a versatile role administering and managing day-to-day payroll processes and ensuring compliance within human resources operations.

      This position ensures smooth hiring, employee lifecycle management, payroll coordination, and administrative processes while contributing to a positive, organized, and compliant workplace.

      Duties include maintaining financial records, processing employee payroll, managing HR policies, supporting employee benefits administration, and fostering a positive workplace environment. You will collaborate closely with management to develop and implement best practices in accounting and payroll functions.

      The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working across departments in a fast-paced environment.

      Responsibilities:
      • Manage payroll processing (to include payroll calendar, timecards, new hires, terminations, changes, deductions, PTO/sick time, final pay coordination, payroll reports, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
      • Coordinate new hire onboarding, document collection, training, and scheduling.
      • Maintain employee records and update HR/payroll systems.
      • Coordinate with management on payroll questions, employee administration, and compliance-related follow-up.
      • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy with sensitive payroll, employee, and financial information.
      • Help improve administrative processes, checklists, and recurring payroll/HR workflows.
      • Assist with employee engagement, performance tracking, and HR projects.


      Requirements

      Qualifications
      • Associate's degree in relevant field is required
      • Experience in payroll, accounting, with some operations and/or HR related tasks
      • Strong organizational and communication skills
      • Ability to manage confidential information


      Preferred
      • Proficiency in accounting practices and payroll administration
      • Experience with QuickBooks, Paylocity, and NetSuite
      • Working knowledge of labor laws and HR compliance regulations
      • Prior experience in a similar role is a strong advantage


      Requirements
      • 1+ years of work experience with Payroll
      • 2+ years of accounting experience
      • Associate's degree
      • 2+ years of work experience with Employee Administration
      • 1+ years of Human Resources Services experience

      Working in a hybrid setting, primarily remote with occasional in-person meetings or training in Tustin, CA.
