      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Serve as the principal assistant to the Payroll and Time Accounting Manager, providing expert-level support in payroll processing
      - Reconcile employer taxes, labor cost distribution reports, and prepare tax reports for submission to relevant agencies
      - Train payroll staff on processing employee payroll, leave, retirement, and accounting transactions
      - Monitor payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness in salary and benefit distributions
      - Provide consultative services on accounting policies, procedures, controls, and agency financial systems

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Eight (8) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or budgeting, or relevant education
      - Demonstrated knowledge of State of Washington enterprise systems for accounting and reporting
      - Proficiency in HRMS or comparable payroll/HR system
      - Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
      - Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workloads to meet deadlines

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Four (4) or more years of relevant professional-level experience in state accounting
      - Two (2) years of experience as a lead worker or supervisor
      - Advanced proficiency with agency standard software applications and systems
      - Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information effectively
