      Reporting to the Director of Accounting Operations, the Payroll Manager’s primary role will include managing all payroll-related functions consistent with Company policies and processes.

      Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

      • Manage ADP and assist with performance of payroll-related functions including but not limited to processing new hires, termination status changes, tax changes, wage garnishments, deductions, timecards and direct deposit.
      • Reviews and verifies payroll data in a timely manner, calculates overtime and other pay premiums, and enters payroll data.
      • Oversees maintenance of payroll records and files including but not limited to sick time and vacation and other accrued leave.
      • Manage expense reporting system.
      • Collaborate with Human Resources on administration of 401(k) and other benefit plans, including any required audits.
      • Performs routine audits of payroll and benefits data and supports audits by benefits providers.
      • Manage the equity system and related requests and reports.
      • Responds to routine inquiries concerning payroll deductions and accruals, wage garnishments, preparation of manual checks, and employment verifications.
      • Prepares journal entries and month-end reports.
      • Oversees tax compliance by payroll provider and resolution of routine notices and changes to tax requirements.
      • Reconciles all payroll-related accounts and activities.
      • Development and implementation of payroll practices, policies, and procedures.
      • Accounting for compensation including equity plan management, expense reporting support, imputed income and other special projects as needed.
      • Performs other related duties as assigned.

      Qualifications:

      • Requires a Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of payroll experience
      • Broad knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP)
      • Internal controls (SOX) experience
      • Life science/biotech industry experience preferred
      • Experience with SAP Concur, ADP WorkforceNow, SAP S4/Hana preferred
      • Strong systems skills; ability to learn and adapt to a new accounting system; proficiency with Microsoft Excel
      • Ability to follow instructions for multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
      • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
      • Ability to work independently as well as with other groups across the business
