Come develop your skills, change TV and the course of your career. Don’t just watch it. Be part of it. Join ITV.

      Your impact sends ripples.

      The team

At ITV, our teams work smart and work fast. We’re one of the most talked-about brands. With a variety of roles across HR, Finance and Content, you’ll find a position that challenges you, enabling you to have a real impact on your career, on our viewers and our strategic ambitions - and still have a life outside work.

      The role

Supported by the Head of People for News & Current Affairs, you’ll be working in a small but brilliant team who offer HR support to the ITV News teams. You will be based in Belfast and you can do some work from home - however in order to provide a great service, you’ll need to be in the Belfast office at least one day each week, visit Gateshead and Carlisle on a monthly basis, and be willing to travel quarterly to London or other UK locations for team meetings. The role can be worked flexibly across the week but some full days will be required to facilitate travel. Further flexibility can be useful in order to accommodate interviews and specific team meetings.

The People team is valued and respected within our business areas. Our partner approach and commercial support mean we add real value by providing comprehensive, efficient and effective HR generalist support, through coaching, problem resolution and case management, as well as supporting and promoting wider ITV initiatives to make ITV a great place to work.

You’ll spend your time building strong relationships with line managers, regularly advising them on the commercial application of all HR policies and procedures to help them make the best decisions for their people. You’ll coach line managers on how to resolve complex ER situations such as disciplinaries, performance management, absence and grievances, ideally adopting an informal approach where possible but being capable to follow a formal route when required.

You will build your profile in your business areas; attending regular team meetings (sometimes online), management meetings and one to ones with key managers. In this varied role you’ll have the opportunity to assist in the management of annual HR processes, join recruitment panels, and facilitate internal meetings. In terms of administration and employee life cycle support, there is a friendly and high class shared service administrative People function based in Manchester that works with line managers and employees directly to sort new starters, salary change and leaver paperwork, so whilst there is a degree of admin as we embed our new Oracle Fusion tool, this is a true business partnering role.

You will be an experienced generalist with extensive knowledge of employee relations including substantial knowledge of employment legislation (in particular for Northern Ireland) and confidence in commercial application. You will have had solid experience working within a busy and challenging commercial environment and possess excellent personal presence and impact - when you talk people will definitely listen to you and hear your advice. With a flexible and assertive approach, you will have a track record in delivering successful outcomes and bringing people with you as you do this. You will be driven to support the business to deliver its strategy using creative HR practices and thinking outside the box. This role will suit someone who is happy to work with minimal direct support and who will not feel isolated in terms of travelling to regional sites alone. Whilst there is a good support network, it’s important that you are comfortable with working autonomously.

      Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

A proven track record as an HR generalist working in a business partnering role, including robust case management and coaching skills

Strong grounding in employment law and confidence in the commercial application of policies (in particular around NI).

Experience of Equality reporting in NI

Experience of managing small scale proposals for change from conception to implementation

Experience of working with line managers of different capability and creating a high performance culture

Experience of taking a flexible approach to working across the week to provide a seamless service to the business

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)

Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

Strong influencing and networking skills; flexible approach to influencing senior leaders

Proactive self-starter; action oriented, resilient with a ‘can do’ approach

Confidence to challenge the status quo

Assertive and confident with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Flexible in style and scope of work, able to accommodate a wide variety of different clients, projects and attitudes and adjust their approach accordingly.

Track record in delivering tangible outcomes on time and to budget.

      CIPD qualification would be preferable.

      ITV is for everyone.
