The Southwest Airlines High School Internship Program provides high school students with insight into the world of aviation over eight weeks. This hands-on program emphasizes the importance of education and opportunities beyond a diploma or degree. We entrust our Interns to make an impact on their Team in real-time projects, work toward Company initiatives, and achieve our Purpose of connecting People to what’ s important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel, all while having fun and developing yourself as a future professional .

      Additional details :

      • Join Southwest during an eight-week internship, lasting from June 11 to August 1, 2024 .

      • Work onsite Tuesday through Thursday at our Corporate Campus in Dallas, Texas , every week .

      • Dedicate 20-24 hours each week to your internship responsibilities and tasks .

      • Receive hourly pay of $15 .

      • Be provided with any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship .

      The hiring process will consist of the following steps:

      • Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m. CT: A ttend our o ptional i nternship i nformation and p reparation s ession . Register at swa.is/ HSinfosession .

      • Monday, Feb. 19 – Monday, Feb. 26: Apply on line at careers.southwestair.com .

      • Early March: Video assessments will be provided to applicants who meet minimum qualifications.

      • Saturday, Apr. 6: If selected, i nterview at our Corporate Campus in Dallas, T exas . More information will be provided a t a later date .

      The People (Human Resources) High School Intern will support our Talent Acquisition Team to help recruit, evaluate, and hire the best People to work for Southwest Airlines.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      The duties and responsibilities of the People (Human Resources) High School Intern may include, but are not limited to:

      • Support Intern event coordination and planning

      • Help schedule interviews and hiring events

      • Assist with scanning documents, filling, compliance audit data gathering, data entry, and documentation

      • Support ongoing projects as needed

      Required Qualifications:

      Southwest Airlines will consider your interest in the People High School Intern position if you :

      • Must currently reside in the Dallas, Texas area as Southwest does not provide housing or offer relocation for high school internships

      • Ar e at least 16 years old by June 11, 2024

      • Are c urrently enrolled in high school with a Sophomore, Junior, or senior status

      • Have t ransportation to/from Southwest Airlines offices noted in the job description above

      • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Strong written/verbal communications skills

      • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above

      • Classroom experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

      • Prior work experience, extracurricular activities, and Leadership experience

      • Quick learner, self-motivated, organized, Team-oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

      Time Commitment & Pay:

      • Program d ates: June 11– August 1, 2024

      • Time c ommitment: Part-time, 20 to 24 hours per week during normal business hours

      • Work l ocation: You must reside in Dallas, T exas, during the internship and work onsite at our Corporate Campus

      • Pay: $15.00 per hour
