      Job Description Summary

      Market and Competitor analysis and insight, giving external context to LBG Retail Banking performance.
      Applicants should be naturally curious, with good analytical skills and ability/desire to understand WHY different trends materialise.
      Key skill requirements include: data analysis and transformation (including Excel), strategic thinking, presentation skills, creating insight tailored to senior audiences, ability to own and shape new analysis … and to hit agreed deadlines.
      Existing knowledge of Retail Banking preferred.

      About the team …

      • The Performance and Market Insight Team (PMI) is a key team within Consumer Lending, providing an external lens to allow Senior Management to understand what is happening in the market and how this impacts our business.
      • PMI operates across the balance sheet and currently provides market insight to Mortgages, Savings, PCA, Overdrafts, Personal Loans and Cards teams, as well as summarising key insight from quarterly Competitor Results calls/disclosures.

      The role …

      • We’re looking for a Performance & Market Insight Manager who will help us to analyse & benchmark business performance through an external market, competitor, macroeconomic and regulatory lens.
      • This role is pivotal to help us shape the future direction of product propositions and strategy.

      What would you be getting involved with?

      • Gathering insight from a variety of internal and external sources to fully investigate and explain market trends and actively inform business decisions.
      • Reviewing annual and quarterly results from peers – including key high street competitors, building societies and challengers.
      • Regularly present analysis & findings to the wider business.
      • Contributing to Executive Committees, Board submissions and regulatory engagements.

      About you …

      • You'll have an eye for detail, ensuring all outputs are accurate and thoroughly checked.
      • You'll be a strong and credible communicator with an ability to work across a variety of teams.
      • You'll have the ability to think strategically alongside strong analytical and numerical skills.
      • You’ll be able to undertake ad hoc analysis with limited notice, and manage your other tasks and stakeholders accordingly.

      And the skills/background you’d possess?

      • A broad knowledge of UK Retail Banking, covering the core Retail products, competitors, economic factors and consumer trends.
      • You’ll be effective at generating and presenting insights for senior leadership teams.
      • You’ll have an understanding of Balance Sheet / P&L data and drivers of P&L performance.
