What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist supervising physical therapist in overall assessment of residents
- Carry out physical therapy care programs as planned and directed
- Recommend changes to policies and procedures for the department
- Train residents in exercise, ambulation, and activities of daily living
- Instruct residents, families, and nursing staff regarding participation in the physical therapy program
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Graduation from an accredited program of PTA education with unexpired/unencumbered New York State Physical Therapy Assistant licensure
- Minimum of 1 year clinical licensed PTA level experience required; gerontology experience preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all disciplines and consultants
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and practices
- Good supervisory skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 0-2 years of experience in gerontology
- Experience working in a culturally competent manner
