What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct physician coding/documentation audits for compliance with E&M, CPT, ICD-10-CM, and other regulatory requirements
- Analyze audit findings and summarize results for the central database
- Participate in audit conferences and collaborate with various representatives
- Identify training needs and conduct remedial training for providers and billing staff
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures in line with the Billing Compliance Plan
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience
- At least 4 years of medical coding experience for multi-specialty providers
- 3 years of experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare payment and reimbursement rules
- 3 years of experience in medical record chart auditing for professional billing
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist and Certified Professional Coder required at the time of hire
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 1 year of experience in medical management information systems (EPIC preferred)
- 1 year of experience with auditing software applications (e.g., MDaudit, Compliance Risk Analyzer)
- Associate’s degree in business or a healthcare-related field preferred
- Certification as a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) within 6 months of hire
