      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Supervise and manage the workload of planning staff, ensuring timely completion of development applications
      - Review and prepare agendas, staff reports, and public notices for various planning and zoning committees
      - Interact with the public and stakeholders to facilitate development applications and enforce city codes
      - Conduct research and develop policies related to planning and community development
      - Oversee departmental work practices and assist in streamlining business procedures

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or a related field
      - Three years of related experience in a professional level planning role for Planning Manager; five years for Assistant Director
      - Demonstrated supervisory experience
      - AICP certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
      - Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver's license within 90 days)

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Master's Degree in a relevant field
      - Prior experience in municipal government
      - Experience as an assistant department head
      - Additional AICP certification
