- Definition of port necessities for the projects’ construction and O&M activities.
- Completion of port assessment reports and recommendation of suitable port/s.
- Develop Port Upgrade Engineering Plan(s) for the selected port/s.
- Preparation of MoUs and NDAs with port authorities/operators.
- Management early engineering works.
- Interface Management.
- Negotiation of port reservations & leases and procurement of the contracts for the upgrade works and the auxiliary services.
- Management of supervision of Contractor port upgrade Works.
- Final acceptance of the completed Works.
- Engagement with the port community and offshore wind associations, including organizations like PIANC, Wind Europe, Ports UK…
- Evaluating potential JIP (Joint Industry Projects) that relate to Ports & Harbours
- German and European regulations for port facilities.
- European Health and Safety regulations
- DNV or internationally recognised standards for port facilities.
- Construction Planning, Estimations & Risk Management.
- Commercial awareness.
Cross project role within the Ports group in the Transport & Installation department which sits within Offshore Wind Project Services division for both fixed and floating offshore wind projects
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Port Manager is responsible for the technical and commercial management of the Port area.
MAIN FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES
At the development stage of a project prior to going to auction the Ports Manager (Technical) can identify key ports that can support construction activities
The T&I coordinator will use this data to assess transit routes for the pre-auction cost estimate. The Ports Manager (Technical) will also be able to assist in early engagement with the Port Authorities and companies, including support in initiating stakeholder engagement and signing MoUs. The Ports Manager (Technical) can support the Ports in the definition of new infrastructure projects, by communicating the port infrastructure that is needed for offshore wind construction activities.
During the Pre-FID stage the Ports Manager (Technical) will perform a project specific port suitability study if required, considering water depth, quay side length, access restrictions, storage capacity and bearing capacity, as well as any other relevant parameter. In addition, they can advise on potential upgrades to the port infrastructure to increase workability.
The Ports Manager (Technical) shall be responsible for handing the area over to the Contractor for the execution of the works and handing the area back to the port once the works have been completed.
The Ports Manager (Technical) is involved in the following activities
Standardization SPR/Iberdrola’s port infrastructure analysis and procedures
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGES, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Education- A degree in Maritime or Civil Engineering or able to demonstrate applicable skills.
Experience- Minimum 6 years’ experience in port or marine management with at least 3 years’ experience as lead engineer level or equivalent.
Language- The project has an international team of employees, and the working language is English.
