      What is the opportunity?

      RBC PH&N Investment Counsel (“RBC PH&N IC”) is one of Canada’s leading boutique investment counselling firms with investment professionals nationwide acting exclusively for high-net-worth clients and small business owners. We provide clients with discretionary investment management and privileged access to the expertise of our RBC Wealth Management Services team which includes highly accredited lawyers, accountants, and financial planning specialists.


      As the Portfolio Management Assistant, you will primarily be responsible for writing Investment Policy Statements and drafting client correspondence. You will also be involved in preparing presentations for the Portfolio Manager. In addition, you will be responsible for reviewing asset mix and researching tax and financial planning issues for the Client.

      What will you do?

      • By providing excellence in customer service, you will respond to all client inquiries, update client files as required and prepare client presentation material
      • You will also be required to prepare meeting material in advance and attend all client meetings as required
      • In addition, you will be responsible for drafting correspondence, updating Investment Management Agreements and assisting in the preparation of Investment Policy Letters
      • You will also assist with securities trading as required, and ensure daily reconciliation of trades are processed
      • Additional duties include assisting with Business Development activities by: developing and managing marketing lists, helping with new account presentations, and preparing new prospect proposals
      • You will also be preparing the Investment Policy Statements, and model, monitor and rebalance the portfolios.
      • A key component of your responsibilities will also include ensuring that compliance to client mandate and portfolio models are met
      • Finally, you will assist the Portfolio Manager and the team with any additional ad hoc administrative duties as needed.

      What do you need to succeed?

      Must-have

      • University Degree
      • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
      • Business writing skills
      • Knowledge on or experience with Investment Policy Statement writing
      • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)

      Nice-to-have

      • Successful completion of CSC (Canadian Securities Course)
      • CIM Designation (Chartered Investment Management)
      • CFP Designation (Certified Financial Planner)
      • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)
      • Past experience in customer service or support roles

      The expected salary range for the above position is $50,000 - $77,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.

      This position may be eligible to receive a discretionary/variable incentive payment.
