      Job summary

      We welcome applications for the role of Practice Manager at our Harewood Medical Practice based in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.

      This is a unique opportunity to manage and lead an NHS GP practice in the heart of a military garrison with a diverse patient population. Our patient needs are at the forefront of our minds as we plan and deliver a GP service befitting of the modern world. We are medium sized practice, with further growth in our population expected due to housing and other developments around the Garrison.

      General practice has changed and it continues to evolve. We are excited by these changes and opportunities these changes will bring. We want to develop our use of AI and digital technologies to enhance patient experience.

      We feel this role may best suit someone with a real passion for General Practice who has developed operational expertise in the delivery of GP services, who wants to work as part of a wider team offering expert support.

      Hours of Work -37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Harewood Medical Practice is open from 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday excluding bank and other public holidays)

      Main duties of the job

      As Practice Manager, you will manage and coordinate all aspects of the practice's day-to-day business, motivating and managing employees, optimising efficiency and financial performance and ensuring the practice achieves it's long-term objectives with the patient being at the centre of everything we do.

      The role of Practice Manager requires a self-motivated, innovative and disciplined individual to take ownership of the efficient day to day running of GP practice services, working as a key member of the Management Team.

      About us

      Heartbeat Primary Care CIC is the GP Federation for the Hambleton and Richmondshire area. We have been delivering GP services via our Harewood practice since 2022 with a very established staffing model. Heartbeat has a mission is to improve health and meet everyday health and care needs by supporting the communities we serve with innovation and quality services. Harewood Medical Practice is an innovative training practice with a mission to deliver safe, person centred quality care in the dales, with respect, openness and honesty.

      We are very excited by the prospect of moving from our existing premises to be the only NHS GP practice within the brand new Catterick Integrated Care Centre (CICC) in 2026. The CICC is a unique integrated care centre, bringing a range of health and social care services together under one roof in a purpose-built facility. A joint collaboration, and first of its kind, between the National Health Service (NHS) and Ministry of Defence (MOD).

      Our existing team includes Finance and HR professionals who offer expert advice and support across the business. The practice team includes a range of multi skilled professionals, led by a management team of a Lead GP, Lead ANP and the Practice Manager with support from the Executive Director.

      Oversee all operational systems, including telephones, appointment scheduling, prescriptions and patient records management, ensuring they function optimally at all times.

      Develop and implement systems for evaluating and enhancing operational services under the Quality and Outcome Framework.

      Ensure the clinical information and patient medical records are maintained following correct processes and retained in line with GDPR regulations.

      Liaise with NHS Property Services and oversee the maintenance, repair and security of practice premises, ensuring compliance with health & safety and fire regulations.

      Ensure effective management of stock, including medical supplies and equipment.

      Ensure confidentiality of data and conformity to the Data Protection Act and Medical Records and Reports Acts, the Freedom of Information Act and the Caldicott Requirements.

      Digital Transformation & Technological Innovation

      Liaise with the Clinical Leads to develop the practices digital transformation efforts, exploring new technologies such as Telehealth, AI-based solutions, or automation to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

      Evaluate and implement software upgrades or changes to improve patient care and employee workflows.

      Develop and implement the practice's IT strategy, ensuring effective use of clinical systems and software to improve operational efficiency.

      Ensure security measures to protect data, including crisis prevention and disaster recovery plans.

      Manage and contribute to development and maintenance of IT systems.
