- Lead and support a community of educators to ensure all children achieve academic and social success.
- Oversee and evaluate the school’s instructional program.
- Develop and manage school-wide systems for student management that promote a safe and equitable learning environment, while supporting educators with student management issues by aligning PBIS and MTSS protocols.
- Foster a school climate that supports Social and Emotional Learning(SEL) and is trauma informed.
- Supervise and evaluate building personnel.
- Engage staff in professional growth and collaboration.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Washington’s state standards, including Common Core, Teacher Principal Evaluation Program (TPEP), and assessment use.
- Accept responsibility for student attendance, conduct, health, and safety.
- Participate in staff recruitment, selection, orientation, and training.
- Collaborate with district and building administrators, providing updates on school progress and issues.
- Exhibit a passion for teaching, knowledge of K-6 curriculum, and effective instructional practices.
- Communicate expectations clearly, support staff performance, and hold staff accountable.
- Maintain a strong presence in the building.
- Promote, advance, and support PBIS throughout the building.
- Collaborate with the principal on school improvement plans, focusing on student interests.
- Attend school events and engage with students, staff, and the community outside regular school hours.
- Lead or participate in district-wide committees, grade level teams, training, and meetings.
- Pursue professional growth through coursework, workshops, and reading.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Professionally interact with colleagues, members of the public, and students.
- Comply with and uphold all district policies and all applicable laws.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned.
- Demonstrated knowledge of school philosophy, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and socially just practices.
- Commitment to improving instructional programs including leading and facilitating professional learning communities.
- Leadership experience in supervision, evaluation, and using data.
- Knowledge of state academic standards and graduation requirements.
- Effectiveness in planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and decision-making.

- Working knowledge of the district-adopted software, including Apple MacBooks/Software, Google/G-Suite programs, Skyward, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to handle confidential matters and information in a professional manner.
- Flexibility in learning new concepts and adapting to various assignments.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds or 33% of body weight, whichever is less.
- Ability to work independently, organize, set priorities, meet deadlines, make sound decisions, and follow through on tasks without constant supervision.
- Valid Washington State Principal certificate, no later than the first contracted day, with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations.
- Five years of successful credentialed experience including a minimum of three years in a teaching or ESA position.
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later).
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act.
- Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date.
Job Title: Principal Assistant, East Farms Elementary, 1.0 FTE
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Schedule: 209 days per year, effective 2025/2026 School Year (August-June, excluding school breaks)
Salary: East Valley Principal Assistant Salary Schedule, $122,853.00 - $135,640.00 depending on placement.

Job Summary:
The Principal Assistant assists the Principal to provide leadership and build a structure of relationships in the school and community so that all students have an equal opportunity to learn and be productive members of the community.

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will be required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and may be exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
Evaluation:
The Principal Assistant shall be evaluated by the building administrator. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee’s performance of the above essential job functions.
