As the assistant psychologist working at Derwent IRC you will support and enhance the psychological care of detainees covered by Practice Plus Group Healthcare team. You will provide psychological assessment and interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist working independently according to a plan agreed in supervision within a Trauma Informed framework and in line with the organisations policies and procedures. Your role is to provide bespoke and evidence-based interventions to meet the needs of a complex and culturally diverse population.
Main duties of the job
To apply for this role you must have worked in a paid job as an Assistant Psychologist for at least one year and accessed direct clinical supervision with a qualified psychologist.. Academically, you must have achieved a minimum of a 2:1 degree in Psychology with entitlement to graduate basis of membership with the British Psychological Society. A master degree is not required but would be an advantage of this to this role. How will we support you? Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course Competency framework 1:1 clinical supervision with a qualified psychologist Peer supervision with the national team of Assistant Psychologists Internal CPD session with PPG Psychology team Our bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needs Support from the wider team Youll receive an annual salary up to 30,600 per annum- depending on experience. About us
Derwentside IRC is an Immigration Removal Centre based in Consett, County Durham, England. It is a 25 minute drive to Durham, and 30 minutes from Newcastle upon Tyne. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach a Trauma Informed, integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact that detainees are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise that no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a persons care.
The dedicated team in the Health in Justice division of Practice Plus Group make a real difference across over 45 prisons, young offenders and immigration removal centres. Were the UKs leading independent provider of NHS services to over 40,000 people in these secure environments, always putting their needs first, regardless of their history.
