      POSITION SUMMARY

      The Public Engagement Editorial Lead is a role within the Marketing and Public Engagement Team, primarily responsible to manage the editorial planning, writing, production, and distribution of MEDA’s Marketplace Magazine across print and digital platforms, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely content to engage and grow MEDA’s subscriber and supporter base. Serving as a key connection point between MEDA private supporters and MEDA’s global work, the Marketplace brand explores the intersection of faith, business, and economic development through stories that inform, inspire, and build community. Additionally, the role is responsible for writing and editing content related to philanthropic and marketing initiatives, including copy writing for appeals, newsletters, scripts and success stories that advance the team’s philanthropic and engagement goals.

      MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

      • Producing quality content and ensuring timely schedules for Marketplace Magazine product delivery and distribution.
      • Leading Marketplace’s digital presence, including adapting stories for meda.org, social media, and related channels to reach and engage new audiences.
      • Partnering with colleagues and external writers and designers to ensure Marketplace products reflect strong storytelling, compelling visuals, editorial excellence, and align with MEDA’s brand.
      • Supporting Marketplace’s approach to partnerships, sponsorships and advertising initiatives for additional revenue support and financial sustainability.
      • Support copy writing for marketing and public engagement initiatives as needed, including copywriting for fundraising appeals, newsletters, and other related activities.
      • Supporting the research and planning of an expanded vision for the Marketplace brand, allocating some time and energy towards exploring new partnership models and marketing products.


      REQUIREMENTS


      Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related discipline



      Experience: 7-9 years of editorial, writing and related experience



      Technical Expertise: Competency with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign preferred. Strong journalistic skills, editorial judgement, a passion and skill for storytelling, adept at managing editorial and production calendars and meeting firm deadlines



      Languages: Fluency in German, French and/or Spanish is an asset



      ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

      • Appreciation and support of MEDA’s faith statement, values and goals
      • Ability and willingness for frequent travel to developing countries
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
      • Experience commissioning and editing freelance contributors is strongly preferred.
