What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform audits and coding of patient charts to ensure accurate diagnoses are reflected in documentation
- Utilize computerized coding/abstracting equipment to code all diagnoses/procedures in accordance with guidelines
- Assist field staff and leadership with OASIS and ICD-10 queries
- Maintain and report statistical information as necessary
- Consult with clinical staff regarding appropriate ICD codes and sequencing
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of relevant work experience
- Minimum of two years' experience in a related field
- Certification for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) or equivalent coding certifications depending on state of work location
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as frequent lifting and data entry
- Excellent communication skills for sharing information effectively
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Prior experience in home care coding or related healthcare roles
- Familiarity with coding guidelines and regulations
- Additional certifications in specialized coding areas
