      About the Unit

      Ethics & Compliance is a key function for Yara, and we are committed to run a business in an ethical and compliant manner. The Regional Compliance Manager Yara Africa will be the main E&C point of contact to Yara Africa senior management and responsible for maintaining the Compliance Program within Yara Africa.

      Responsibilities

      • Provide advice and interpretation of the Code of Conduct and other Ethics and Compliance related activities to employees and managers in the Region/Function.
      • Identify emerging risk factors within the scope of the Ethics and Compliance program and propose and manage mitigating actions. Develop Compliance Risk Assessment and monitor the completion of agreed risk mitigation.
      • Owner of the Compliance Program and expert on compliance in the Region. Develop in-depth knowledge of the business and support management on how to manage the business in accordance with Yara’s Ethics and Compliance policies.
      • Be pragmatic in bringing change where needed and be a solution provider.
      • Support the Business Unit Management in analyzing new market developments and investigating what actions to put in place to enter the new markets.
      • Be an effective business partner to all the country managers and supporting them in a very hands-on manner.

      Responsibilities (continued)

      • Communicate Yara’s Ethics and Compliance standards and procedures to all employees through training programs, the development of policy documents and internal communication; Ensure awareness of the global policies.
      • Liaise and develop partnerships with other departments (such as Legal, Finance, Human Resources, Internal Audit) for risk assessment and ethics processes, awareness and training.
      • Control and oversee the consistent and effective implementation of Yara’s Ethics and Compliance procedures in the region, covering all segments therein.
      • Conduct internal investigations coordinated by the Corporate Ethics and Compliance team when required.
      • Regularly provide updates on issues in the region to Ethics and Compliance HQ Team.

      Profile

      • Has a recognized Law or business school qualification.
      • Has minimum 3 years relevant work experience in the Compliance area or similar (eg. HR, internal controls, legal, audit).
      • Familiar with Yara’s operations in Africa.
      • Proactive and self-starter.
      • Finds it easy and natural to demonstrate leadership skills, take initiative and work independently.
      • Demonstrates judgment with handling confidential information.
      • English, written and spoken, is the official language. An additional language relevant to the region is an advantage.

      Additional Information

      The location for this position is preferably Nairobi, Kenya. Johannesburg, South Africa, will also be considered.

      This position will report to VP Ethics & Compliance, based in Oslo, Norway.

      The position will require regional and, to a lesser extent, international travel.
