Job Description

- Responsible for executing annual departmental performance goals.
- Communicates and ensures adherence to all bank initiatives, compliance, security and operational policies and procedures as well as financial loss standards.
- Manages the Market Managers and Branch Managers within the region. Conducts meetings and high-level communication with direct reports to ensure quality customer service and efficiency.
- Responsible for collaborating with Regional President to implement and monitor the annual budget of deposit balance growth, non-interest income and expenses, as well as capital expenditures for the assigned market area(s).
- Attends monthly regional meetings to review and implements improvement to deposit operations.
- Upholds company standards of excellence and service, guaranteeing quality performance.
- Actively contributes to the achievement of strategic initiatives.
- Serves as an escalation point to resolve customer and employee issues.
- Assists Chief Deposit Services Officer and Bank Security Officer in overseeing the physical security, audit integrity and risk management of the region.
- Assists the branch management team in conducting performance evaluations, providing recommendations, and initiating hiring, discipline, and promotion or termination of staff. Identifies and nurtures the development of talent to aide in career growth and succession planning.
- Ensures branch efficiency related to schedules, staffing levels and reviews job performance of the region’s retail team.
- Delegates various operations duties to the Branch Manager and/or appropriate branch staff while maintaining overall administrative responsibility.
- Directs oversight of change management regarding corporate initiatives.
- Promotes a sales culture and ensures that the staff receives proper training to sell and cross sell products and services that meet individual customer needs.
- Meets with branch staff regularly (both 1:1 and in group meetings) to organize sales efforts, communicate procedural/product changes, and resolve issue to optimize branch performance and employee engagement. Establish regular coaching opportunities with each team member to review goals and highlight further personal development.
- Assists in mentoring management during mergers and acquisitions.
- Required to be present within each assigned banking center, a minimum of once a month. Additional visits may be necessary as needed.
- Identifies and executes opportunities to ensure business unit innovation and excellence.
- Completes required training associated with job function and performs related duties as assigned.
- Responsible for meeting with top customers within the assigned market(s) periodically to ensure customer satisfaction and build relationships.
- Collaborates with Market Manager and other business units to protect and grow customer relationships, by establishing an effective calling plan and coaching managers.
- Creates annual bank/market initiatives related to annual goals.
- Assist in market research of other Financial Institutions to allow us to remain competitive for our customers and shareholders.
- Responsible for directing the service and sales culture within the region for increasing the revenues and profits of the region.
- Communicates and coaches corporate initiatives to generate understanding from the team and connect to the Banks’ values and culture.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of retail banking sales and customer service experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of multi-branch, retail sales management experience.
- Strong organizational time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to grasp concepts and processes and to partner with and influence others.
- Able to handle most problems/exceptions in an independent manner.
- Strong understanding of customer, product and branch profitability.

Reporting to the Deposit Division Manager, the Regional Deposit Manager has strategic leadership responsibility for all personnel across multiple banking centers and may include the functional responsibility of a Branch Manager for a specific branch. The RDM has three main areas of responsibility – sales growth, employee development, and operations management. The RDM supports the bank’s mission to make our customers feel valued, satisfied, and understood by developing a personalized relationship with our customers and by asking questions to create a customized solution based on their needs and stage of life. The RDM actively manages area Branch and Market Managers and is accountable for market share growth, income and expense management, and exceptional delivery of banking services in keeping with First Mid core values. Finally, the RDM supports the First Mid mission of investing strategically in our communities by ensuring delivery of coordinated market outreach and business development efforts throughout the regional network.
