What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Contribute to existing research projects by developing solutions and algorithms
- Implement software code and databases to support ongoing research
- Evaluate research results and contribute to conference presentations and journal publications
- Work on generative design and optimization workflows for engineering applications
- Utilize AI/ML methods to optimize representations of geometric objects
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Current Master's or Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Math, Computer Science, or related discipline
- At least two years of academic research experience as an undergraduate or graduate student
- Strong mathematical and computational foundations, especially in geometric and physical modeling
- Familiarity with optimization techniques, numerical analysis, and statistical learning (e.g., AI/ML)
- Demonstrated experience in at least one programming language (e.g., Python or C++) and one ML model development framework (e.g., PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- A working knowledge of programming styles (e.g., object-oriented programming) and best practices
- Related industrial or entrepreneurial experience (including internships)
- Experience with manufacturing and testing techniques
- Independence in problem formulation and creativity in problem solving
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
