Chenega Professional and Technical Services, a Chenega Professional Services' company, is looking for a Research Technical Support IV (Laboratory Technician IV) to support the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID). Providing support to the Molecular Virology Branch with laboratory experiments in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories and must hold and maintain BPRP status in accordance with the provisions of this contract and applicable regulations. Work with controlled substances and therefore must hold and maintain CS-PRP status in accordance with the provisions of this contract and applicable regulations. Must be able to independently coordinate and execute scientific studies involving animal procedures, collection/data analysis, and maintaining laboratory and laboratory equipment. Aid in the execution of basic cell culture, plaque assays, and other assays.

      Responsibilities

      • Support, coordinate, and/or execute Non-human Primate studies, ferret studies, swine studies and/or rodent (hamster, guinea pig, and mouse) studies per year in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories.
      • Perform animal inoculations with virus, vaccine, or applicable testing material via various routes to include intramuscular, intratracheal, intranasal, oral gavage, subcutaneous, intracranial, and intravenous.
      • Perform animal observations, physical examinations, and humane euthanasia in support of assigned animal protocols to include rodents and non-human primates.
      • Collect tissues and perform processing procedures to include homogenization, clarification, and viral inactivation in support of assigned animal protocols.
      • Conduct blood sample collection, sample processing, aliquot preparation, and viral inactivation.
      • Perform specimen collections to include (but not limited to) nasopharyngeal swabs, oropharyngeal swabs, rectal swabs, bronchoalveolar lavage, and cerebrospinal fluid.
      • Prepare all necessary study materials for assigned experiments to include but not limited to preparing cell culture media, labeling tubes, and preparing paperwork.
      • Perform basic cell culture, plaque assays (PA), plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT), and other assays to support assigned studies as directed.
      • Perform general laboratory maintenance duties, including but not limited to cleaning, preparation for inspections, and containment space monthly duties as assigned by the suite supervisor.
      • Perform other administrative tasks associated with assigned animal studies, including but not limited to raw data quality control review, data entry, binder compilation, and binder management as assigned.
      • Assist with inventory management of in vivo and in vitro study materials and samples.
      • Serve as BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 mentor.
      • Provide TPOC a Contractor Research Technical Report NLT the last day of each week.
      • Responsible for assessment, ordering, inventory, and maintaining supplies used for in vivo and in vitro studies. Will assess supplies and will order supplies using GFEBS ordering system as directed.
      • Enrollment in the Good Laboratory Practices program is required and will be held and maintained IAW the provisions in this contract and all applicable regulations.
      • CS-PRP enrollment is required and will be held and maintained IAW the provisions in this contract and all applicable regulations.
      • BPRP enrollment is required and will be held and maintained IAW the provisions in this contract and all applicable regulations.
      • Other duties as assigned.


      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's or Master's degree in microbiology, virology, biomedical science, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
      • Minimum of 3-5 years of laboratory experience supporting infectious disease, virology, or biomedical research programs or biomedical research programs.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      • List Master's degree in microbiology, virology, biomedical science, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
      • Experience supporting animal studies involving rodents or non-human primates.
      • Experience performing cell culture, plaque assays (PA), plaque reduction neutralization tests (PRNT), or related virology assays.
      • Experience working in BSL-2 or BSL-3 laboratory environments.
      • Experience supporting laboratory inventory management and supply ordering systems such as GFEBS).

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      • Knowledge of laboratory animal procedures and biosafety practices.
      • Proficiency in basic virology laboratory techniques and sample processing.
      • Ability to maintain laboratory documentation, supplies, and equipment.
      • Ability to work effectively in high-containment laboratory environments and follow strict biosafety procedures.


      Teleworking Details

      No telework, inclement weather telework only.

      Estimated Salary/Wage

      USD $70,000.00/Yr. Up to USD $80,000.00/Yr.
