POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises and directs the activities of the Respiratory Care Department under the direction of the Director and the Medical Director. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited AMA Respiratory Care program. Associates Degree in Respiratory Care or Health Science.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelors in Health Care Management
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years of respiratory care clinical experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1-year supervisory experience in a respiratory care area or a related clinical area.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current State of Texas License and RRT
REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): BLS obtained through approved American Heart Association Training or the Military Training Network. NRP for Neonatal areas within 6 months of hire or transfer into position. PALS for Pediatric areas with 6 months of hire or transfer into position

Qualifications
Education:Required: Graduate of an AMA accredited respiratory care program. associate in respiratory care or health science
Experience:
Preferred: Bachelor's in Health Care ManagementRequired: 2 years of respiratory care;
Certifications:
Preferred: 1 year of supervisory experienceRequired: RCP or equivalent State licensure; RRT, ACLS, PALS, and NRP
Physical Demands:Responsibilities
Monitors the annual department operating and capital budgets; supervises daily operations of assigned departments; supervises staff; assists in selection of personnel for hire and promotion; takes appropriate actions regarding counseling, disciplinary actions, demotion and termination; assists in evaluating staff performance; administers medication and treatments; performs quality control on all respiratory equipment; assists in training/orientation of students or new employees.
