Job Title: RTI Literacy Specialist

Reports To: RTI Literacy Coordinator
Compensation: $73,210.50

Summary:
The RTI Literacy Specialist provides direct and indirect support to improve reading outcomes for
students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention. This position is part of the district's Academic
Tiered Services Department and plays a critical role in the implementation of a Multi-Tiered
System of Support (MTSS).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
? Provide ongoing instructional coaching and professional development to reading
interventionists and teachers in the science of reading, literacy screening, data
interpretation, and evidence-based Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention practices.
? Assist with the implementation of training, intervention planning, and data analysis
related to SRA and dyslexia screening requirements.
? Collaborate with teachers to implement structured literacy interventions aligned with the
Student Literacy Intervention Plan (SLIP), including support for students at risk for
characteristics of dyslexia.
? Create and maintain clear, accessible resources for parents and teachers to support
understanding of literacy screening data and the full continuum of intervention support
for struggling readers, including guidance for both school-based interventions, and at-
home literacy strategies.
? Create and maintain clear, accessible resources for parents and teachers to support
understanding of the dyslexia screening process and related intervention supports.
? Participates in PLCs and MDI meetings to support literacy instruction and intervention
planning, when requested.
? Provide ongoing training and support for UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute)
implementation and ensures UFLI content is up to date in Epic Ed.
? Participate in the State Department of Education coaching improvement community
aligned to the science of reading and national coaching best practices.
? Attend professional developments to remain current in reading, dyslexia, and dysgraphia
certifications.
? Maintain regular attendance (working remotely); adheres to District practice regarding
attendance and leaves of absence.
? Perform the above and other related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the
position with strict confidentiality.
? Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Tiered Services.
Supervisory Responsibilities
? At this time, there are no supervisory responsibilities for this role.
Education and/or Experience
? Master's Degree in reading, language and literacy, or related field preferred
? Current and appropriate OK teaching license in Elementary Education or Special
Education
? Training in the Science of Reading Required, including certification or coursework in
evidence-based practices (e.g., Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), CALT
Trainee, CALP (Certified Academic Language Practitioner), The Center for Effective
Reading Instruction (CERI) Certification, Educational Therapist certification or other
Orton-Gillingham Training (Take Flight, Alphabetic Phonics (AP), Wilson, Institute for
Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) or Evidence Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI).
? Reading Specialist certification or Literacy Interventionist training required, or willing to
obtain/make progress towards one of these certification during the 26-27 school year
? Classroom or SPED teaching experience required
Qualifications
? Experience providing instructional coaching and professional development to teachers
? Experience implementing or supporting RTI/MTSS frameworks
? Knowledge of the Strong Readers Act requirements and literacy screening and
intervention processes
? Ability to analyze student data and use assessment results to guide instruction and
intervention planning
? Demonstrated aptitude and ability for successful performance of the Essential Functions
listed.
? Exhibits listening, patience, caring, and empathy when relating to staff and the
community.
? Skills in effective oral and written communication with a high degree of accuracy.
? Skills to organize ideas, time, materials, and space with attention to detail to accomplish
goals and meet deadlines.
? Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

willing to work with others as a team.
? Ability to work effectively under pressure from the public, workload, and employees.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal communications and legal documents. Ability to
respond to common inquiries or requests for assistance from district-wide staff members. Ability
to communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers verbally and in writing.
Excellent writing skills are required.

Basic math skills required
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer proficiency in Windows,
Microsoft Office, and Google Suite. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as
necessary for the school's business operations.

This position is remotely based and also must travel to various Epic sites. This requires
spending a significant amount of time in the car, driving in various conditions and at various
times of day. The noise level is quiet to moderately loud (when students are present.)
