      Summary:

      The RTI Math Specialist provides direct and indirect support to improve math outcomes for students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention. This position is part of the district's Academic Tiered Services Department and plays a critical role in the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):
      • Provide ongoing instructional coaching and professional learning to support teachers in the effective implementation of evidence-based Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention practices.
      • Provide direct, targeted small group math intervention to students in need of Tier 3 services, using systemic, research-based instructional practices and materials aligned to student needs.
      • Regularly review student progress monitoring data to determine the effectiveness of interventions and adjust instruction accordingly for students receiving direct services by the Specialist.
      • Assist with the implementation of training, intervention planning, and data analysis related to Math Achievement and Proficiency Act and dyscalculia screening requirements.
      • Collaborate with teachers to implement structured math interventions aligned with Individualized Math Intervention Plans (IMIPs), including support for students at risk for characteristics of dyscalculia.
      • Participate in the State Department of Education coaching improvement community aligned with mathematics best practices and national coaching standards.
      • Attend professional development to remain current in mathematics instruction, dyscalculia, and related intervention certifications.
      • Create and maintain clear, accessible resources for parents and teachers to support understanding of math screening data and the full continuum of intervention support for students struggling in mathematics, including guidance for both school-based interventions and at-home math strategies.
      • Create and maintain clear, accessible resources for parents and teachers to support understanding of the dyscalculia screening process and related intervention supports.
      • Maintain regular attendance (working remotely); adhere to District practice regarding attendance and leaves of absence.
      • Perform the above and other related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position with strict confidentiality.
      • Perform related duties as assigned by the RTI Math Coordinator or the Director of Academic Tiered Services.

      Supervisory Responsibilities:
      • No supervisory responsibilities for this role.

      Education and/or Experience:
      • Master's Degree in mathematics, math education, special education, curriculum and instruction, or related field preferred.
      • Current and appropriate Oklahoma teaching license in Elementary Education, Mathematics Education, or Special Education.
      • Training in evidence-based mathematics instruction and intervention practices required, including coursework, certification, or professional learning related to math intervention, dyscalculia, RTI/MTSS, or mathematics coaching.
      • Dyscalculia training, coursework, or certification preferred, or willingness to pursue professional learning in dyscalculia and evidence-based math intervention practices.
      • Math Interventionist training, Mathematics Specialist certification, instructional coaching experience, or willingness to obtain/make progress toward certification during the 2026-2027 school year preferred.
      • Classroom teaching experience in a general education or special education setting is required.


      Qualifications:
      • Experience providing instructional coaching and professional development to teachers.
      • Experience implementing or supporting RTI/MTSS frameworks.
      • Knowledge of the Oklahoma Math Achievement and Proficiency Act (MPA) requirements and math screening and intervention processes.
      • Knowledge of evidence-based mathematics instruction and intervention practices, including support for students at risk for characteristics of dyscalculia.
      • Ability to analyze student data and use assessment results to guide instruction and intervention planning.
      • Demonstrated aptitude and ability for successful performance of the Essential Functions listed.
      • Exhibits listening, patience, caring, and empathy when relating to staff and the community.
      • Skills in effective oral and written communication with a high degree of accuracy.
      • Skills to organize ideas, time, materials, and space with attention to detail to accomplish goals and meet deadlines.

      • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers verbally and in writing.
      • Excellent writing skills are required.

      Mathematical Skills:
      • Strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills required, including the ability to interpret student performance data and support evidence-based mathematics instruction and intervention practices.

      Reasoning Ability:
      • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

      Computer Skills:
      • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
      • Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.

      Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
      • Current driver's license and valid car insurance.

      Other Qualifications:
      • Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made.
      • Must have favorable employment references.

      This position is remotely based and also must travel to various Epic sites. This requires spending a significant amount of time in the car, driving in various conditions and at various times of day. The noise level is quiet to moderately loud (when students are present.)
