Responsibilities The Opportunity Responsible of Legacy Equipment Machine Safety Lifecycle & supporting the implementation of Safety risk mitigation projects throughout PMF manufacturing operations Act as “Functional Safety - Machinery” point-person to provide guidance and support to internal customers Maintaining the machinery safety risk data registry for PMF manufacturing operations Your Impact As Safety Assoc Manager your scope would consist of … Executing Machinery Lifecycle processes for Legacy Equipment installed in Manufacturing Plants throughout PMF; this includes: Going on-site to perform Legacy Machinery Risk Assessment Designing and establishing Safety Requirement Specifications for risk mitigation Verifying machine safety design On-Site validating machinery final remediation solutions / reviewing safety control circuits and calculating safety performance levels Developing, maintaining, and reporting on a machine safety risk data registry for PMF manufacturing operations; measuring performance vs targets, to drive change and continuous improvement against baselines. Ensures the local (PMF) implementation of the technical pillars of the Worksafe Latam strategic program: Safety Projects for risk mitigation Machine and Equipment Safety Standard (MESS): Risk assessment, mapping, and remediation/validation Hazardous Energy/LOTO: Technical expertise and guidance for developing safe procedures Works with EHS Operations to determine present and future needs in terms of MESS risk management processes, including risks derived from new regulations (PROY-NOM-004-STPS-2020) Develops and leads MESS training programs for EHS / Maintenance / Engineering Managers Act as the key contact point between PMF Safety department and PMF Engineering department for technical issues regarding safety standards and Management of Change (MOC) processes Review reports from safety consultants to ensure compliance with PepsiCo and international safety standards Participates in the MESS Central Team meetings to provide input and coordination between central (global/regional) and operations EHS teams Participates in regional and global working groups to implement locally the strategies for technical safety advancement Works with EHS Compliance to ensure implementation and correct tools for GEHSMS MESS standard throughout PMF manufacturing operations Qualifications Who Are We Looking For? Qualifications required by GEHSMS STD 50: Machinery and Equipment Safety Standard TÜV Certification as Functional Safety Engineer (ensuring renewal of the TÜV certificate for the full duration of role) At least 3 years conducting risk assessments and/or in Functional Safety Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering / Mechatronics Expert in the application of safety standards such as ISO 13849, ANSI B11, ISO 12100 Competence in electrical controls with a focus on safety Advanced English proficiency / Technical proficiency is required. Functional capabilities based on the Global EHS Competency Model: GEHSMS Academy Certified / GEHSMS Academy Trainer specialized in Technical Safety; With hands-on experience in technical safety standard implementations and deep understanding of requirements, able to provide guidance and execute continuous improvement for these standards. EHS Change Agent: Capable proficiency; Supports the development of communications that explains contexts, challenges, objectives, and benefits of change. EHS Business Partner: Capable proficiency; Communicates EHS activities, priorities and targets to main stakeholders, and collaborates with other departments to discover gaps and agree on action plans regarding technical safety. EHS Management: Capable proficiency; Able to oversee the correction of technical action plans from inspections and audits; Able to assist in the trends analysis from audit findings and requests budget in AOP for corrective actions; Has a deep understanding of requirements of EHS Management Systems (GEHSMS & ISO 45001) and Technical Safety standards. Risk Assessment: Advanced-Mastery proficiency; Effectively executes and evaluates the risk assessment tool, and leads discussion of controls; Prioritizes risks and corrective actions; Explains risk and priorities to other departments to generate and execute action plans. Machinery Safety/LOTO: Advanced-Mastery proficiency; Collaborates and can influence engineering on the design of new and modified equipment installation; Demonstrates knowledge of interlocking, control systems and international standards; Can train others and facilitate the HRN methodology for risk assessment; Works with engineering on new and modified equipment installation to ensure safe energy isolation is possible.
