Sales/Intake Attorney - Criminal Defense Michael & Associates, California

Michael & Associates is revolutionizing criminal defense in California. Building on our proven success in Texas, we are bringing our innovative, efficient, and client-focused approach to the West Coast. Our bold and well-defined objective is to become the largest and most effective criminal defense firm in the country within the next three years, creating a supportive environment where attorneys can thrive personally and professionally, while guaranteeing that every client receives exceptional, high-quality legal representation.

      Who We Are

We set ourselves apart from conventional defense firms by blending top-tier legal expertise with the operational efficiency found in leading technology companies. Our approach leverages advanced digital marketing, streamlined workflows, and data-driven strategies to provide a tailored and superior client experience.

This forward-thinking approach has positioned us as one of the top defense firms in Texas, and we are now extending our vision to California to transform the criminal defense landscape.

      About the Role

Take on the position of a Sales/Intake Attorney, serving as the crucial initial point of contact for individuals seeking professional legal representation. You will engage directly with clients facing serious criminal charges, conduct a comprehensive evaluation of their cases, and effectively illustrate how Michael & Associates stands as their trusted partner in protecting their rights and future.

Importantly, this role does not involve cold calling-every lead is pre-qualified and actively looking for legal assistance. Your primary objective is to establish authentic trust, clearly communicate the distinctive advantages of our firm, and skillfully guide prospective clients through each step toward obtaining our high-quality legal services.

      Key Responsibilities

      Engage and Convert
      • Hold daily consultations with around 20 qualified leads.
      • Quickly establish rapport, identify client needs, and obtain signed retainers.

      Educate and Advise
      • Gain an in-depth knowledge of California criminal law and our firm's established defense strategies.
      • Respond confidently to client inquiries and clearly explain our approach in a reassuring manner.

      Empathize and Reassure
      • Provide support to clients who may feel anxious, uncertain, or overwhelmed.
      • Exhibit professionalism, patience, and empathy to foster trust and confidence.

      Represent the Brand
      • Consistently embody Michael & Associates' dedication to excellence, advocacy, and white-glove service in every interaction.
      • Establish a welcoming and exceptional client experience from the very first call.

      Why You'll Love This Role

      1. Be Part of a Fast-Growing Firm
You'll be joining our California launch team - the ground floor of a national expansion. Help build something new and be part of a firm that's scaling fast.

      2. Career Growth and Advancement
Criminal defense rarely offers real growth paths. We're changing that by building a firm where talented attorneys can advance, lead teams, and develop their careers long-term.

      3. Forward-Thinking Culture
We embrace technology, automation, and continuous improvement - freeing our attorneys to focus on clients, not busywork.

      4. Team Collaboration
No lone wolves here. Every client benefits from the expertise of the entire firm. You'll work alongside highly skilled attorneys who share your passion for excellence.

      5. Make a Real Difference
Every day, you'll help people through one of the most stressful times in their lives - providing hope, clarity, and first-rate representation. Our reviews speak for themselves: we fight hard and care deeply.

      Requirements
      • You Enjoy Doing Consults and Have Experience Selling to New Clients
You will spend a significant amount of time on the phone daily, connecting with potential clients seeking assistance. If you don't truly enjoy interacting with people, hearing their stories, and directing them to the most suitable legal solutions, this role may not be the best match for you. However, if you find fulfillment in having meaningful conversations and helping clients move forward toward achieving peace of mind, you will thrive in this position.
      • Strong Phone Sales Skills
It's not just about talking - it's about connecting. You should be friendly, empathetic, and professional, but also confident, knowledgeable about the law, and capable of handling any questions or concerns potential clients may raise. Prior experience in phone-based sales or client consultations is a major plus.
      • Appropriate License
You must have one of the following:
        • An active California Bar license, or a clear plan to obtain one; or
        • An active Bar license from another state for 5+ years, which can streamline admission to the California Bar; or
        • A Bar license from a state that has reciprocity with California (if applicable).
      • You Love Being on the Phone - Seriously
We can't emphasize this enough: this role is all about connecting with clients over the phone. If talking with people energizes you and you find satisfaction in helping them during one of the most stressful times in their lives, you'll love this job. If not, this probably isn't your ideal fit.

      Benefits

Competitive Salary Range: $130000- $200000 per year (depending on experience and performance)
