      General Purpose:

      The Seafood Associate provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for. This means fulfilling customer requests, preparing and weighing fish from the case, stocking and rotating the case, being knowledgeable about product, and keeping the department clean.

      Reports to: Manager, Assistant Manager, Supervisor

      FLSA Status: Non-exempt

      Job Description:

      • Must be 18 years of age or older
      • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service
      • Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams
      • Develop knowledge of the product, including cooking times and methods, product sources, how the fish was raised (farm or wild), and whether product is fresh or frozen
      • Develop knowledge of ingredients in all pre-cooked frozen items, salads, and sides
      • Safely cut, clean, weigh, and package fish and other products from case according to customer’s specifications
      • Stock and rotate products to keep older product in front and stock cases and ice tables, making sure each product is correctly labeled and there are no empty spaces
      • Be aware of sale items and pricing
      • Be the final line for quality control: look for packaging issues, sell-by dates, and be vigilant about quality and presentation of all products put into the case
      • If assigned, fry or steam fish, lobsters, crab legs; prep items such as soft shell crabs for sale
      • If assigned, train new associates
      • If assigned, stock and merchandise self-serve cases
      • If assigned, receive deliveries; check delivery ticket against what was ordered and received
      • Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, counters, cases, coolers, preparation and production areas
      • When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand

      Physical Requirements:

      • Consistently lift and move 60 pounds
      • Stand for duration of shift
      • Work in cold temperatures for duration of shift
      • Safely use knives and other equipment necessary to run the department

      • Communicate clearly with customers and coworkers
      • Employees are our internal customers; treat them with the same courtesy and respect as our external customers
      • Must work efficiently and at a productive pace per department needs
      • Must be able to work schedule shift
      • Follow all department safety policies and procedures
      • Understand weights, measurements, and fractions
      • Be able to concentrate on the task at hand in order to avoid injury and waste of product
      • Be knowledgeable about Adams product – recommend cooking methods and ideas to customers by exploring customer preferences and advocating
        Adams product
