What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Lead financial analysis and collaborate with customer departments to align financial goals with organizational objectives
- Present financial data and analyses to the City Council and City Manager Team
- Perform variance analyses of revenues and expenditures, providing projections and fiscal impact assessments
- Develop and implement performance management systems to track departmental performance against established goals
- Assist in planning and administering the City's biennial budget process, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with business needs
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business, finance, accounting, or public administration
- Five or more years of professional experience in budgeting or accounting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly in managing complex spreadsheets
- Experience working with large data sets and preparing annual budget development in a complex environment
- Considerable knowledge of public budgeting, accounting, and finance principles
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Prior experience with JDE, Hubble Reporting, and DAS Reporting
- Demonstrated experience in developing performance management systems or metrics
- Ability to explain complex financial issues to non-technical audiences
- Experience collaborating with department leaders on financial plans
- Proven track record of participating in continuous improvement initiatives related to finance or budgeting
