      The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Sustainability Standards, Governance & Strategy, the Senior Business Analyst will work cross functionally and collaboratively with all levels of the organization to build-out the qualitative requirements anticipated by the Canadian Securities Administrators in their forthcoming national instruments for disclosure of sustainability-related information. Initially, this role will be heavily focused on the IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures standard (or the Canadian equivalent) to help operationalize the strategy, risk-management, and governance requirements in a methodical way. This role requires a big-picture thinker with the ability to simplify ambiguous challenges into tangible results.

      What you’ll do

      • Further incorporate ESG related considerations into the investment review and capital allocation processes

      • Support the build-out and ownership of climate-related risks and opportunities into the enterprise risk management program

      • Work with the Corporate Secretarial team to update governance processes and policies to satisfy requirements of IFRS S1 and S2

      • Work with the Financial Reporting, ESG Data Disclosure and Internal Audit teams to implement the requisite controls on the qualitative climate-related sustainability information included in the annual Report on Sustainability and ultimately in annual regulatory disclosures

      • Prepare slides and facilitate mandatory reporting readiness presentations to key internal stakeholder groups

      • Participate and contribute to the writing and/or review of sustainability information in our regulatory disclosure materials

      • Support the preparation of responses to the securities commission(s) on proposed draft national instruments related to sustainability disclosures

      • Conduct ongoing assessments of the mandatory sustainability reporting landscape, identifying key industry trends and best-practices

      • Support the Sustainability Management Committee to develop and implement effective governance for key activities across the organization, including the identification of material non-climate related sustainability metrics that meet the needs of investors and internal and external stakeholders

      • Support the Sustainability and IR-ESG teams in the materiality assessment and qualitative scenario analysis work streams

      • Support the ESG Working Committee meetings and preparation of materials

      • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders, such as risk, strategy, investor relations and business unit leads, to understand sustainability issues that could affect the company, and subsequently develop strategies to address them

      • Build trust with key stakeholders by providing timely, constructive, accurate and succinct information/advice to uphold the reputation of the Sustainability team.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • 15+ years’ experience within a complex organization with progressively senior experience

      • Bachelors degree, preferably with a concentration in sustainability, business, finance, economics or related field

      • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others, work with all levels of management, establish trust, and gain the confidence of others in the company

      • Proven capacity to be a strategic thinker who can work independently with ambiguity and drive change in a large organization

      • Proven track record of being able to work well under pressure, having strong organizational, analytical, attention-to-detail and decision-making skills

      • Ability to listen and consider the views of stakeholders, and communicate difficult and challenging messages in a courteous and respectful manner

      • Superior communications skills, with the ability to distill technical and complex information into a clear, concise and compelling narrative for a wide range of audiences

      • Organized and proactive – able to anticipate problems and develop short term and long-term plans to address

      • Flexible thinking to adjust to changing priorities from inside and outside the company

      • Results-oriented with strong identification and initiation of continuous improvement opportunities

      • Resourceful, with the ability to establish and focus on key priorities while taking a hands-on approach to managing issues and delivering results

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Understanding of the current developments and needs of external stakeholders, financial, regulatory, and special interest groups around sustainability disclosures

      • Experience in preparing financial disclosures and dealing with investor communications would be considered an asset

      • Sustainability-related experience

      • Experience/knowledge of securities law and policy

      • CPA, CFA, MBA or capital markets experience.
