      Job Details:

      The Senior Director, Brand Design will be the senior subject matter expert on brand design, visual brand identity, and brand packaging representing the portfolio of brands at Tyson Foods. He/she will be part of the Enterprise Growth Team and will report to the VP, Marketing Communications & Design. This person will lead the development, instruction and implementation of best practices related to branding and brand packaging for all Core brands and Innovation across the enterprise. He/she will work collaboratively with internal cross functional teams that include BU marketing teams, Consumer Insights, PMO's, Packaging Engineering, Art Production, and Regulatory. This person will lead all agency partners and suppliers in brand design strategy and execution and will have a team of two Brand Design Managers to help deliver the total visual brand identity system. On top of enabling best-in-class Design work, they will be responsible for the establishment of and institutional adherence to best practices regarding workflow and project management, cost avoidance, and agency resourcing.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Oversee the packaging design strategy and creative development process from inception to design finalization for all base and innovation brands and products
      • Set the Design vision for the organization and build the internal Design capabilities required to deliver on that vision
      • Curate, hire, and oversee all Design agency partners responsible for the execution of Design projects
      • Oversee and co-author Design briefs
      • Lead partnership with Packaging Engineering and Art Production to optimize the Design process and ensure all work adheres to packaging spec requirements
      • Sell design recommendations to senior leadership
      • Develop and lead design training programs for the Tyson organization at large
      • Collaborate with Consumer Insights on Design research best practices, Brand Distinctive Assets, and project-specific consumer research plans
      • Ensure organizational facility and compliance with established digital packaging workflow system
      • Lead decision-making process regarding selection of external agencies and photographers
      • Accountable for ensuring all design concepts are aligned with brand strategies and style guides prior to implementation
      • Provide art direction at critical photo shoots either on site or remotely as necessary

      The ideal candidate will:

      • Be an influencer and educator who has a mastery of the discipline, is networked in the field, and has the skills necessary to encourage intelligent risk-taking (including Executive Leadership Team level).
      • Has strong communications skills and facility for inspiring talent to learn, grow and risk, as well as coaching talent to act
      • Excel at problem solving through design, bring an open mind and be comfortable operating in a fast- paced environment.
      • Have the capability to effectively translate marketing objectives into inspirational design strategies and tactical visual design execution.
      • Have a thorough understanding of various packaging printing processes to ensure designs agencies are delivering concepts that can be commercially executed.
      • Have strong presentation skills with the ability to sell ideas by inspiring and motivating clients.
      • Have a high level of attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multiple tasks, set realistic deliverable expectations, ability to challenge unrealistic expectations.

      Requirements:

      EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Graphic Design, or related field

      EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10+ years of packaging design experience, client and/or agency side. Preferably some agency side experience and CPG experience.

      COMPUTER SKILLS: Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Macintosh operating systems including Adobe Creative Suite of programs

      SUPERVISORY: Supervise 2+ direct reports

      TRAVEL:

      Position will be located at Tyson Headquarters in Springdale, Arkansas and there is no remote work option available. Relocation assistance is provided
