- Position Pfizer’s digital and technology expertise as an integral element of our broader reputational efforts. Take a leadership in role in developing appropriate positioning and messaging and ensure consistency across channels.
- Advance the executive positioning and thought leadership of the Chief Digital and Technology Officer and key members of her leadership team to enhance Pfizer’s reputation.
- Provide senior communications counsel to the Chief Digital and Technology Officer and leadership team.
- Lead external communications efforts to drive awareness and uptake of new Pfizer digital health and medicines solutions. Support commercial launches of these new products.
- Serve as Corporate Affairs lead for Pfizer Digital coordinating efforts with colleagues across Communications, Policy, Government Affairs, Investor Relations, and align closely with other divisions including Legal, Compliance and People Experience to ensure proper positioning and alignment of content and programs.
- Effectively lead and manage agencies, vendors and other external partners as needed.
- Stay abreast of company milestones, emerging innovation at Pfizer, emerging use of digital, data, and technology in the healthcare industry and competitor activities to propose fresh ideas and leverage opportunities for Pfizer to build and maintain a competitive advantage and be positioned as a partner of choice by potential external partners.
- Maintain an understanding of trends, competitive landscape, and developments in the communications industry to ensure Pfizer’s communications are leading industry best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Business Administration, Journalism or related area is minimally required.
- 15+ years of experience in a leadership role in Corporate Communications in life sciences or technology, or with a public relations agency serving leading clients.
- Demonstrated strength across a variety of corporate communications disciplines, including strategic programming, executive leadership communications, enterprise communications, media relations, issues management, and ally development.
- Strong executive presence and ability to confidently interact with senior leaders to garner trust and offer strategic counsel.
- Demonstrated track record of hands-on senior level strategic counsel, planning, implementation and measurement; organizational skills; attention to detail; and ability to lead projects independently.
- Ability to think strategically, analytically, creatively and purposefully while working against tight deadlines, managing multiple projects at once and maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Excellent presentation, written, oral, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a proven ability to work well as part of a team and with all levels in an organization.
- Global experience and the ability to navigate an organizational matrix.
- Must be confident, decisive and adept at navigating a fast-paced and evolving environment with competing priorities and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to motivate, manage and lead matrixed teams of skilled professionals.
- Thorough knowledge of the creative development, production and distribution of key communications vehicles (including print, broadcast and electronic).
- Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- Advanced degree in communication, business, life science, technology or comparative field is preferred.
- A patient-centric and customer-focused mindset.
- Demonstrated breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including the ability to influence and collaborate with executives and peers to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- A genuine interest in and aptitude for science, technology and healthcare and the ability to translate complex information into clear and concise messages for a broad range of audiences.
- Demonstrated success evaluating changing business conditions and effectively shifting priorities as necessary.

ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer Digital and Technology is responsible for Pfizer’s enterprise-wide digital strategy, including digitizing drug discovery, clinical development, manufacturing, distribution and commercial. As the intersection of digital and healthcare expands, this organization spearheads the effort to improve patient health outcomes through innovative digital health, medicine, and diagnostic solutions.
The Senior Director, Digital and Technology External Communications will report into the Vice President, Science and Clinical External Communications. The incumbent is responsible for communications to effectively position Pfizer’s digital, technology and data strategies and solutions with external stakeholders. The incumbent will serve on the Pfizer Digital and Technology Leadership Team and provide senior communications counsel to the Chief Digital and Technology Officer and her leadership.
