- Manages the largest states’ Accounting/Finance department
- Partners with Corporate shared services on the month end close process, ensuring accurate creation of financial statements, trend analysis, and review of all account reconciliations.
- Establish and maintain systems and internal controls which verify the integrity of Company data and reporting and protect Company assets.
- Prepares and submits State specific tax returns, such as Gallonage Tax and S&U Tax returns.
- Works with department heads to establish processes and internal controls related to payment applications.
- Partners with the Corporate A/P Department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing.
- Investigates unusual customer/sales representative activity.
- Business partner to the Market EVP
- Manages the entire annual budget process including coordination with senior management of every functional area to ensure timely and accurate completion of the process.
- Collaborates with the Market EVP & VP of Finance on a variety of cost saving/profit enhancing initiatives and other one-off projects.
- Partners with Revenue Management to identify risks & opportunities with gross profit to achieve overall margin goals.
- Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in accounting or financial management experience
- Advanced PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software
- SAP (COPA) Experience a plus (ERP/MIS Experience required)
- In-depth knowledge of key finance and accounting processes such as general ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, state and local tax compliance
- Must be a results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
- Analytic and Reporting skills
- Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone
- People management responsibility for pay reviews, performance management, training, and resource planning.
- Requires conceptual thinking to understand complex issues and their implications, where sufficient information may not be available.
Overview
The Senior Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all the activities of the State’s Finance Department. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring the accurate and timely dissemination of internal monthly & quarterly financial reports, and managing the annual budget & forecast process. This position will also oversee the State’s Supplier A/R and Credit departments ensuring the accurate and timely recording of supplier & customer payments, credit memos, and adjustments. This individual will also be responsible for establishing credit policies to protect company assets and minimize bad debts and work to resolve a variety of customer inquiries and issues.
