- Leads the long-range strategic financial planning function and development of annual operating budgets for ASUEP and affiliates, assessing viability of strategic goals based on data analytics
- Partners and serves as a resource to leaders across ASUEP to develop business strategy, operational strategy, and financial plans that are in alignment with organizational strategy
- Structures, builds, and maintains complex financial and decision-making models to develop meaningful business insights and practical recommendations
- Builds and reviews detailed assumptions that drive the multi-year planning model; works with business leaders to create models and set targets accordingly
- Conducts analyses, prepares reports, and advises on feasibility, cost effectiveness, and regulatory conformance of long- and short-range strategic financial plans, proposals, special projects, and ongoing programs
- Evaluates financial risk; prepares financial forecasts, financing scenarios, and other documents concerning long-range financial plan, and writes reports and recommendations
- Analyzes monthly department budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls; analyzes monthly budget versus actual results in detail for operating accounts and real estate (LLC) accounts; researches variances and recommends budget actions where appropriate
- Identifies and drives cross-functional initiatives to improve processes, systems, and automation to enable efficiency and help the business scale
- Prepares forecasts of income and expenditure; maintains, updates, and continually re-evaluates long-range financial plans created for endowed and non-endowed pools, reserve strategy, and revenue and expense trends
- Hires, motivates, develops, and retains a high-performance team
- Acts as the subject matter expert for company-wide and departmental planning tools and technology and recommends process improvements where needed
- Accommodates ELT and board-level reporting needs as needed

- Excellent analytical skills for interpretation of budgetary, financial, and related management information, along with attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Skilled in preparing complex and detailed financial and budgetary analyses with the ability to address a variety of budgetary issues
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, reliability, adaptability, integrity, discipline, and productivity
- Demonstrated skill in quickly analyzing and synthesizing key information from a variety of sources and reports that are then made digestible and actionable for leadership teams
- Strong computer literacy and ability to assess, recommend, and implement planning and budget system changes
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to attract, challenge, and develop exceptional talent
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including tables, charts, pivot tables and complex formulas)
- Strong ability to deliver information in a clear and concise manner, regularly interacting with individuals across all levels of the organization
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information
- Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or other related discipline
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience, including experience in data-driven decision-making roles such as finance, financial planning & analytics (FP&A), economics, statistics or similar field
- Three (3) years of supervisory and/or leadership experience
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or other related discipline
- Four (4) or more years of experience with business data modeling

Senior Director, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
ASU Enterprise Partners is an efficient network of highly skilled teams; it is comprised of a full complement of professional services that work in concert with specialized business units to provide full resources and extend Arizona State University’s ability to achieve its charter .
The Senior Director, of Financial Planning and Analysis is the leader of the Business Planning team, liaising with functional areas across ASU Enterprise Partners (ASUEP) and Arizona State University (ASU) to provide institutional insights. This role is responsible for elevating strategic financial planning as a core element of business planning and leads the end-to-end financial planning, forecasting, and reporting processes, including but not limited to annual budgets, monthly performance reports, quarterly guidance, and the financial model for ASUEP’s business outlook and long-range plan.
