      Position Overview

      The Senior Director, Global Security leads a high performing team of service-oriented security professionals to ensure safe and secure work environments for all Exact Science employees globally. This position is responsible for protecting Exact Sciences personnel, facilities, and assets worldwide from physical security risks, while being attuned to Exact Sciences’ culture, responsive to business needs, and committed to integrity and excellence. Living our core values and adhering to our leadership expectations, this individual must work cross functionally with leadership to oversee and coordinate security efforts that align with cyber security, compliance, regulatory, finance, operations, and legal objectives.

      Essential Duties

      include but are not limited to the following:

      • Protect Exact Sciences employees and assets from physical harm and loss by innovating and leading all security and loss prevention strategies including security operations, security incident and fraud investigations, access control and surveillance systems, emergency management and security communications.
      • Direct the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) team responsible for 24x7 real-time monitoring, detection, notification, and proactive response to security events across the organization.
      • Lead Security team members in collaboration with Risk Management and HR business partners to conduct investigations related to security policy violations, threats of workplace violence, loss prevention, property loss or reputational security matters, ensuring proper reporting, evidence chain of custody, retention of surveillance and communication to company stakeholders and law enforcement.
      • Provide support to global event programs through security planning, risk management and strategic partnerships.
      • Provide senior executive focused threat intelligence to enable the security and safety of company leadership through relevant intelligence and analysis. Proactively assess risks and provide support in collaboration with executive leadership.
      • Make decisive, sound, high quality decisions on escalated security issues, accurately judging the urgency, response and need for further escalation.
      • Support employee travel through key partnerships, innovative technologies, and best in class security travel services including real time counsel and support of domestic and international travelers dealing with safety or security issues.
      • Direct intelligence resources to enable the security and continuity of business by anticipating global insecurity and physical disruption (life safety, business operations, and reputation), assisting decision-makers in effectively mitigating risks, and responding to residual risks.
      • Partner with the Business Continuity Team to document recovery plans.
      • Maintain a strong network of government (Fusion centers, FBI/DSAC, State Dept./OSAC, local and international law enforcement), industry partners, private and public sector peer network groups (ISMA, security working groups, peer companies, etc.), leading benchmarks, and play a leading role in industry safety & security forums and organizations.
      • Oversee the deployment, training, preventative maintenance, and testing of security technology and tools.
      • Partner with Real Estate & Facilities Services team to design appropriate and cost-effective security designs and drawings for global real estate and construction projects.
      • Oversee emergency, life safety, and crisis telecommunications and ensure they align with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and best practices.
      • Works cross-functionally to develop and monitor KPIs & SLAs in areas of responsibility, report on status and progress on improving performance.
      • Direct and oversee the company’s parking management strategy, utilizing parking data/analytics to ensure adequate parking for employees and visitors across all facilities.
      • Direct and oversee the company’s visitor and contractor management strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and security and compliance policies.
      • Lead security investigative program in partnership with Legal, Human Resources and other groups as required for policy violations, worker misconduct, criminal activity, workplace threats and other potential risks. Engage law enforcement and provide expert testimony when needed.
      • Responsible for establishing multi-year Security budget, staffing and security capital improvement plans to support overall strategy and influencing Sr. Leaders with strong vision and justification plans.
      • Develop, implement and cascade pertinent security training to Exact Sciences employees through innovative learning and development strategies.
      • Partner with EHS, Cyber Security, Internal Audit, and Risk Management to lead the company's Emergency Management efforts, including incident planning and response, mass notification, and contingency planning preparations.
      • Ability and willingness to be on call 24/7 to respond to company-related security emergencies.
      • Be a role model in the development of a culture of safety, security, and customer service.
      • Provide oversight for security-related projects.
      • Oversee team members, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.

      • Maintain regular and reliable attendance onsite at our Madison, WI location.

      • Ability to work designated schedule including nights and/or weekends.
      • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day.
      • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
      • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
      • Ability to travel up to 30% of working time away from work location within US and internationally, including overnight/weekend travel.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security or related discipline.
      • 12+ years of related experience with a public or private security organization where high levels of service were a priority; or an equivalent level of education, training and experience.
      • 10+ years proven experience leading and managing physical security to include threat and vulnerability assessments, mitigation strategies, major event planning, executive protection, and workplace violence in a multi-unit organization.
      • 10+ years of experience leading or directing people and/or project teams with a similar scope.
      • Demonstrated ability to lead in an emergency, and in stressful situations.
      • Experience leading people and the identified security programs above on a global bases, including countries in North and South America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific.
      • Strong computer proficiency with internet navigation, email usage, and Microsoft Office programs.
      • Possession of a valid driver's license, with no more than two moving violations, events, or accidents in the past 36 months, and no unresolved license revocation or suspension issues.
      • No alcohol or drug event in which a vehicle was driven by the candidate or employee, including but not limited to Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) failure, refusal to submit to alcohol or drug test, alcohol related suspension, etc. in the last 36 months.
      • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
      • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Demonstrated experience and exposure in the domestic and international security arena dealing with and managing security-related issues in a similarly sized private sector corporation.
      • Working knowledge of state-of-the-art security programs and systems; experience with S2, Everbridge, and Ontic preferred.
      • Experience working with Intelligence and protective teams.
      • Understanding current and emerging risks facing corporate leaders, high profile personalities, and the technology industry, including current and emerging digital innovations and trends.
      • Exceptional executive communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to transfer knowledge and inspire a growth mindset.
      • Experience in an FDA, CLIA, or CAP regulated industry.
      • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Certified Physical Security Professional (PSP) through ASIS International.

      Salary Range:

      $197,000.00 - $315,000.00

      The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms, conditions, and eligibility requirements of the applicable plans.
