      Job Title: Sr. Director Medical Affairs – Evidence Generation, Strategy and Communications

      This Position:

      Reporting to the Vice President of Global Medical Affairs, this newly created Medical Affairs leadership role will be a member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team. You will lead a team of Medical Affairs professionals dedicated to excellence and delivering world class medical affairs capabilities in support of Insulet’s global product portfolio. Along with your team, you will work collaboratively with the Medical Affairs Franchise Leads, Medical Affairs Regional Business Leads and cross-functional counterparts to produce globally impactful collaborative research projects, real-world data analyses, medical communications, presentations and publications. You will lead the process to develop and track a comprehensive global annual Medical Affairs operating plan that delivers meaningful outputs for the product (Franchise) programs and regional commercial business teams. You will provide strategic input and guidance to help direct evidence generation activities including real-world data analytics. With your background and experience, you will develop and mentor your team strengthening the core medical affairs capabilities. You will foster a positive work environment while being a leader withing the Global Medical Affairs team.

      Key Accountabilities:

      • Champion the process to define and construct a unified Global Medical Affairs Annual Operating Plan and associated budget that brings together and supports the needs of the Franchise teams and regional business teams.
      • Build and maintain the Global Evidence Generation Strategy that addresses the highest priority evidence needs aligned with corporate business priorities, and drives the approval, adoption and market access for Omnipod users.
      • Chair the investigator-initiated research (IIR) review meetings and track active IIR studies
      • Working closely with clinical affairs, maintain and evidence generation dashboard to communicate progress on evidence generation activities.
      • Lead the Medical Affair team that delivers world-class capability and content related to:
        • Strategy and execution of real-world data analysis leveraging Insulet’s cloud based product data,
        • Translations of research results into impactful publications, presentations, and claims supporting current and future Insulet products,
        • Scientific presence and data sharing at key medical conferences,
        • Responding to medical and product related questions from Health Care Providers
      • Build, Monitor and maintain the annual medical affairs budget and forecast process.
      • Provide strategic input into publication plans and data dissemination tactics to support effective communication of study results as well as content review for manuscripts, presentations, and medical communications.
      • Lead the efforts to communicate study results and Medical Affairs activities to internal cross-functional stakeholders.
      • You will develop, refine, and scale data management and analytic procedures, systems, workflows, and best practices in cooperation with other internal stakeholders, including Insulet’s Clinical and Data Science Teams.

      Education and Experience:

      Minimum requirements

      • 15 years of experience with medical affairs and/or medical strategy within medical device or pharmaceutical industry.

      Preferred requirements

      • Post-graduate degree, MD, PharmD or PhD, in a health-related field

      Skills and Competencies:

      • Strategic thinker and proven leader in Medical Affairs with direct experience developing and leading the implementation of medical strategy.
      • In-depth understanding of diabetes (type 1 and type 2) including disease pathophysiology, treatment options, risks, and outcomes. Advanced knowledge of diabetes technology including automated insulin delivery systems would be an asset.
      • Experience with designing research studies and interpreting data, including analysis of large real-world data sets.
      • Skilled in medical communication to diverse audience groups.
      • Passion for building and leading teams and working within a cross-functional team environment.
      • Strong technical and business acumen.
      • A clear understanding of the US and global regulatory environment related to medical devices.
      • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment and effectively prioritize project timelines.
      • Self-driven and regularly meets or exceeds expectations.
      • Working knowledge of relevant software programs [e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Products, Medical Communication tools (Medical Information CRM, Promotional Material Review), etc.)]
      • High ethical standards which apply to interactions with HCPs, payers, and industry representatives

      Physical Requirements (if applicable):

      • Location: Hybrid or remote position. Travel within North America and internationally will be required, up to 15% of the time depending on location.

      Additional Information:

      The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,540.00 - $300,937.50. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
