- Under the direction of the Vice-Chair, Administration, DCAPBS and in partnership with the CHOP Behavioral Health and Crisis Center leadership team and the relevant system/ University City/KOPH operations leaders, serve as a generalist leader of operational services at the Cedar Avenue Campus including:
- Manage local teams and leaders within scope of responsibility. Develop and sustain relationships with relevant system leaders to support matrixed local leadership.
- Collaborate with relevant system leadership to define service expectations, standards and metrics for operational services provided, monitor local service quality and follow up on concerns; Primary accountability for operational performance and service delivery for the areas under their responsibility
- Serve as a business leader, with responsibility for Cedar Ave-specific operational and financial metric performance, and alignment with system-wide strategies and objectives.
- Responsible to lead the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation and improvement of operational service models at the Cedar Ave to support the delivery of high-quality clinical care, patient/family engagement and staff experience.
- Works collaboratively with all Cedar Ave departments, units, and disciplines to ensure optimal operations in a community setting and establishes processes and systems for staff to engage with all Cedar Ave areas.
- As a member of the Cedar Ave Leadership team:
- Be visible as a leader on-site, remain sensitive to daily hospital operations, act as an escalation point for operational concerns, and be an ambassador for the Cedar Ave and the CHOP enterprise; Serve as a rotational leader in the leadership on-call schedule for Cedar Ave.
- Serve as a business leader, exercising strong collaboration and communications skills that support an integrative and effective matrix-based organizational model, both locally and with respect to the CHOP system

- Lead with a focus on operational, process and procedural innovation, challenging traditional operational models as necessary.
- Promote collaboration and sharing of resources across departments in the Cedar Ave, with a focus on the development of generalist roles and flexible staffing and leadership across areas
- Data Collection, Reporting & Analysis
- Collaborate with system-wide and local leaders to develop, implement and sustain a culture of data-driven operational decision making, continuous quality improvement, and performance management at the Cedar Ave.
- Drive the design and ongoing quality improvement and optimization of Cedar Ave operations with respect to safety, quality and financial performance. Responsible for relevant metrics across these dimensions and their impact on system-wide performance.
- Fosters data literacy, personally and across teams, to support a culture of robust, data-driven decision making and monitoring of performance
- Leads culture of financial stewardship, with a focus on resource alignment and productivity measurement
- Develop fiscal policies and operating practices which maximize productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness and enable the Cedar Ave to meet financial and operational performance goals. Continuously monitor performance and make adjustments as necessary.
- Implements methods to ensure staff is attentive to efficient and cost-effective utilization of Hospital and Enterprise resources; including engaging with local and system leaders to provide staffing resources as necessary.
- Finance & Accounting
- High degree of autonomy in budget development and financial performance management, expense approvals and other financial processes as directed by and reviewed by Vice-Chair, Administration, DCAPBS.
- Data collection, organization, report generation and distribution
- Data analysis and interpretation with independent action planning
- Bachelor's Degree business, health administration or related field Required
- Master's Degree business, health administration or related field Preferred
- At least seven (7) years operational leadership Required
- At least five (5) years experience in an academic or healthcare environment Required
- At least five (5) years management or supervisory experience Required
- Effective leadership skills including: (Required proficiency)
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills (Required proficiency)

A Brief Overview
The Sr Director, Operations for CHOP Behavioral Health and Crisis Center (Cedar Ave) reports to the Vice-Chair, Administration, DCAPBS and provides strategic, operational and tactical level support for operationally-based departments to enable and support the delivery of excellent clinical care. The Sr Director is a generalist business leader with responsibility for planning, directing, and continuously improving hospital operations across a broad spectrum of services and activities, and responsibility for managing relevant financial objectives. The Sr Director provides leadership and management of teams, departments, and functions within reporting scope and serves as a member of the DCAPBS leadership team.
Areas of direct and indirect responsibility may include: clinical support services, business operations and/or contracted services oversight. The Sr Director develops and maintains collaborative interdepartmental and intradepartmental relationships locally and throughout the health system,; including but not limited to: University City Hospital, and King of Prussia Hospital, and the Care Netowork. The Sr Director leverages enterprise-level partnerships to support system-connectedness, alignment and consistency. The Director models an organizational culture that advances CHOP Behavioral Health and Crisis Center as a community hospital reflecting the CHOP system mission, values, and standards.
