- Identify and implement new Portfolio Management tools to assist in the decision making of resource allocation and divisional investment
- Maintain the Project Priority List and, in collaboration with the Platforms and Marketing teams, lead global periodic meetings to include members from the regions to agree to project priorities
- Direct the activities of the project management and R&D groups to achieve on-time and on-budget product development projects
- Maintain global view of resource loading and resource availability to ensure active project list and priorities are aligned
- Provide long-term vision of project schedules, identifying and mitigating potential risks
- Implement procedures, policies, and technologies to develop and add definition and consistency to project management and R&D functions
- Provide mentoring for team members, R&D personnel, and others within the division, including communication, technical, and interpersonal skills critical to successfully managing projects and people
- Resolve discrepancies and manage conflicts between competing project management processes
- Maintain overall responsibility for cross-project budgets, ensuring coordination across departments and providing insight into the budgeting process.
- Manage project management and R&D resources to maximize the project work that can be accomplished in conjunction with the divisional priorities
- Utilize individual project manager’s unique skills effectively while meeting the organization’s strategic goals and project priorities
- Continue to advance consistency of implementation across all divisional projects
- Track and document project successes, failures, and lessons learned across projects to continuously improve the project management function
- Maintain integrated portfolio delivery plan for all ongoing NPD projects within the division
- Act as project manager for high-priority and strategically important projects
- Administrative work associated with direct reports, as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or medical device science related discipline from an accredited university or college. Advanced degree(s) in Engineering or related engineering discipline(s) preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of product development experience with 8+ years of Management related experience in a highly regulated product development environment, operating within Design Control procedures, preferably from within the medical device industry.
- Demonstrated aptitude for successfully managing multiple projects, of varying complexity, within the specified guidelines, timeframes and budgets.
- Experience in working in an agile environment and extended agile project management skills
- Understanding and knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical devices
- Strong strategic and leadership ability for a large organization with proven capability to interact with all levels of the organization in a professional manner
- Demonstrated leadership, including active listening, coaching and mentoring skills
- Extended communication skills, solution orientation, and ability to influence and inspire people
- Ability to think strategically, independently, creatively, and purposefully while managing multiple global projects skill sets and respective deliverables
- Effective coordination and collaboration with other departments
- Drive for change, innovation and continuous improvement, advancing ideas into action
- Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize as well as effective decision-taking
- Experience managing direct reports

Reporting to the Global head of Research & Development, the Senior Director Program Management will be part of the Pharmaceutical Systems R&D Leadership team. This position will manage a team of Program managers to deliver successful planning, management and execution of development and strategic projects in accordance with the Pharm Systems Global Product Development process. They will be responsible for establishing Project Priorities in collaboration with the Platforms and Marketing teams to align with the overall business priorities and strategic direction. Further, this individual will work to improve the efficiency and consistency with which projects are planned and managed.
