      GEICO is seeking a Senior Director, Special Investigations Unit (SIU) to lead the company’s fraud prevention and detection efforts. This is a tremendous opportunity to define and drive GEICO’s investigative strategy with a team of talented investigators that will support your vision and innovation.

      Overview

      As Senior Director, SIU, you will lead a nation-wide team of internal investigators, field investigators, and specialized investigative teams in executing GEICO’s Fraud Investigations. You will promote and monitor the company’s efforts to gain restitution for fraud perpetrated against GEICO and assist in evaluating the appropriateness of initiating civil recovery actions. You will create, recommend, and implement company policies and programs aimed at preventing and detecting internal and external fraud. You will oversee US-wide special operations and provide guidance and assistance where needed, while evaluating task forces and monitoring their effectiveness.

      Additional Responsibilities

      • Supervise the management of the Special Investigations Unit’s case management system and related databases.
      • Coordinate the auditing of SIU files for quality control, ensuring that suspected fraud cases are investigated properly, that evidence of fraud is gathered and stored properly, and that appropriate after-investigative action is taken (i.e.; civil and criminal prosecution)
      • Analyze claim handing procedures for vulnerability to fraud and recommending changes in procedures
      • Ensure all associates and SIU staff receive appropriate training in Fraud Prevention & Awareness
      • Evaluate company-wide integration of technology to combat fraud as appropriate
      • Evaluate vendors’ services as they relate to insurance fraud investigations and negotiate the best corporate rates for those services
      • Act as a liaison with GEICO stakeholders to ensure that SIU is providing appropriate service and that fraud reduction and detection efforts are maximized
      • Act as GEICO’s liaison with Law Enforcement and assists in evaluating the appropriateness of initiating civil recovery actions

      Qualifications

      • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in leading fraud investigations and setting strategies
      • Property and Casualty Insurance Investigations experience preferred
      • Skilled at leading sizeable internal and external (field) teams
      • Expertise using data and analysis to identify and implement new criteria for reviews and investigation referrals
      • Ability to manipulate large datasets to develop models, flags, links, and other valuable data in the detection and investigation of fraud

      Location

      • Hybrid in Melville, NY; Lakeland, FL; Fredericksburg, VA; Dallas, TX preferred
      • Other locations on the East Coast may be considered.

      Annual Salary

      $195,000.00 - $315,000.00

      The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
